Physical Education, Period 4, 7/8

The gym today was clear of any complex obstacle courses or other clutter that might have once been in there. Instead, there was only a glowing green line down the middle of the room and a bin full of bright red rubber balls.

Because Guy, it seemed, didn't believe in using those squishy yellow ones. No one over the age of thirteen should use them anyway. The red ones built character.

Guy blatantly stole a move from Captain America blew a whistle to get everyone's attention. And, in case that didn't work,shouted a quick, "Listen up!" at the class.

"My name is Guy Gardnerand I'll be your teacher for the semester," he said, just a hair quieter than shouting. He was boisterous! This was to be expected. "I don't think this needs to be a big lecture--" Because it was gym. "--just don't do anything stupid that could get you or a classmate hurt and this'll be an easy class."

Maybe. If you're lucky.

He palmed one of the rubber balls, pointing it over toward Jaime. "Got any questions, ask Reyes or myself. Got it?" Guy nodded before lightly tossing the ball to a student. "Name, age and favorite sport. Toss the ball to the person next to you for their turn."

Miley could not dodge a ball. No sooner had the game started than she landed flat on the floor, face down.

Not only could he dodge a ball, Squall could also catch a ball -- especially when it was hurtling towards one of the weaker-looking players on his side.

And he could THROW a ball, hard, at the weaker-looking players on the other side. If he was going to play, he might as well play to win.

It was kind of unfortunate having wings the size of Warren's while playing a game like this. There was just that much more of him to aim at.

But at least his throwing arm was pretty impressive. Warren actually grimaced a couple times when he got his hands on a ball and flung it off at the other team a little too enthusiastically.

Sort of knowing where the balls were going to go before they were there meant Alex was pretty good at dodgeball, although at one point he stopped and just let the ball hit him.

It had been going to happen anyway.
