Physical Education, Period 4, 7/8

The gym today was clear of any complex obstacle courses or other clutter that might have once been in there. Instead, there was only a glowing green line down the middle of the room and a bin full of bright red rubber balls.

Because Guy, it seemed, didn't believe in using those squishy yellow ones. No one over the age of thirteen should use them anyway. The red ones built character.

Guy blatantly stole a move from Captain America blew a whistle to get everyone's attention. And, in case that didn't work, shouted a quick, "Listen up!" at the class.

"My name is Guy Gardnerand I'll be your teacher for the semester," he said, just a hair quieter than shouting. He was boisterous! This was to be expected. "I don't think this needs to be a big lecture--" Because it was gym. "--just don't do anything stupid that could get you or a classmate hurt and this'll be an easy class."

Maybe. If you're lucky.

He palmed one of the rubber balls, pointing it over toward Jaime. "Got any questions, ask Reyes or myself. Got it?" Guy nodded before lightly tossing the ball to a student. "Name, age and favorite sport. Toss the ball to the person next to you for their turn."

In a school where she got to bake cupcakes and "avoid misadventure," Miley had to get stuck in yet another gym class. Wonderful.

"Hey, I'm Miley Stewart and I'm 17," she said as she introduced herself. "And I'm not really a sports girl; I'm more of a dancer, if you get what I'm saying?"

It was true. Her reign of sucking at every sport she'd ever played had been uninterrupted since age five. Except, curiously, dance.

"Squall Leonhart. Eighteen. Basketball, I guess." Squall shrugged. He wasn't really much of a sports person.

//I'm Jack. I'm a dog. For the moment,// Jack said with a tired bark. //And yet for some reason I keep introducing myself. Because I'm a moron. And still a dog. A dog who's seventeen and like's baseball.//

Oh, yeah. Warren was an old hat at introductions by now.

"Hey, I'm Warren Worthington, nineteen years old," he shared with the class. "And I don't have much experience with sports, really. But I guess I'm pretty okay with volleyball?"

Beach volleyball.

It counted.

"I'm Jacob Black. I'm seventeen and um..." he had to think on that for a moment. It wasn't like he actually did sports. How about extreme sports? "Cliff jumping."

"Hi, I'm Alex. I'm thirteen and my favorite sport is...I don't know. I haven't done much in the way of sports. Does fencing count?"

"William Murdoch," Will introduced himself. "I'm fifteen- and I'm quite fond of boxing?" he offered a little hesitantly. That particular fact was perhaps a little incongrous with his image as the bookish science nerd, but he really was rather good at it.
