Fandom High Welcome Picnic, Front Lawn of the School, All Day: Part II

In order to give people a place to get away from the traffic jam of the buffet and information tables, most of the chairs and tables for guests were set up further out on the lawn, under a tall blue and gold tent. There was plenty of room for everyone to sit down and enjoy themselves, but it might not have all been dry. Did we mention being grateful that it was just water falling from the sky?

He laughed softly, his hand rubbing the small of her back and she pretty much couldn't do anything wrong if she kept touching him like that. "I think you might end up employee of the year," he joked.

"It's barely halfway through the year," she teased, thinking it was really only like, a couple months. "You might want to hold out on the promises."

"Nah," he murmured, turning his head so he could bury his face against her neck. "I'm pretty confident."

She was just a little disappointed he wasn't kissing her neck, but eh, even Caroline knew necking in public wasn't very polite. "See, you say that and it makes me wonder how many ways I could mess it up," she teased. Did he know how talented she was at screwing up these things?

"That wasn't a challenge, Caroline," he laughed and shook his head. "We'd figure it out."

She giggled, tugging herself a little closer and recrossing her legs comfortably. "Good. I prefer not screwing up."

Mmmmmm, he could feel that. It was kind of evil and they were still in public.

Oh god, they were that kind of couple, weren't they? Fuck, but he didn't care. People could just deal. "You'll be fine."

They were totally that couple. It came naturally to Caroline so Jake would just have to deal with her being touchy-feely in public.

"Hmm, does that mean we're having a sleepover tonight?" she checked.

He laughed and drew back to meet her eyes, grinning. "I think we might have to. Someone needs to make sure the room is bug free and all."

"And a wet shirt?" he laughed. Though his shirt was rapidly drying thanks to the heat of his skin.

Her eyebrows lifted playfully. "The wet shirt was a nice bonus up until you got me wet. But I'll let you make it up to me."

"By moving your stuff for you?" he guessed. No, he didn't think that'd be enough.

"No, I was thinking before that," she laughed, since she was a terrible influence on him. "Like right now."

"Hmmmmm." His hand drifted back down to her knees and he leaned in, kissing her gently to see if that's what she wanted.

Either that or the cookies, but he liked kissing her better.

Well, she probably tasted like cookies, so that was something, right? But a kiss was exactly what she'd been looking for, making her smile and bringing out that special look in her eyes.

He was smiling as he drew back, his thumb smoothing over her cheek. "When do you want to do this moving thing?"

She turned her head a little to kiss his thumb. He so wasn't going to like this. "Give me an hour to check with the old roomie and then meet me there?"

An hour to tell Nathan she was out of there? He raised an eyebrow, but managed not to say anything. "Okay."

An hour to make sure he wasn't going to throw a fit and give her a minute to get used to the idea of it. "You're the best," she told him, kissing his cheek. I promise, one hour."

"I am," he agreed, smirking a little and bumped her nose with his finger. "I'll see you in an hour."

If she actually climbed off his lap.

Of course she climbed off his lap, sticking out his tongue at the way he bumped her nose.

She gave her dress a little tug to make sure all was in place before she walked away, giving him a nice view to get him through the next hour.
