Fandom High Welcome Picnic, Front Lawn of the School, All Day: Part II

In order to give people a place to get away from the traffic jam of the buffet and information tables, most of the chairs and tables for guests were set up further out on the lawn, under a tall blue and gold tent. There was plenty of room for everyone to sit down and enjoy themselves, but it might not have all been dry. Did we mention being grateful that it was just water falling from the sky?

"... I really hope not, because the person who made the sign gave me a job that same day."

Well. Hate to break it to you, Jim...

"I'd keep an eye out."

Jim shuddered a little, there.

"I think I might have to. Seriously, you have to see this sign to believe it, Stan. It's unreal."

"If it almost hits me too, I'm so blaming you," Stan replied.

"It pretty much doesn't even have to move to be able to punch you in the eyes," Jim stressed. "It has a lens flare."

"...what does this place do?"

Jim hung his head a little.

"Repairs and upgrades on pretty much anything you can bring in," he sighed. "That's how I ended up with the job. I couldn't afford rental on the welding equipment to fix my broken surfer, but employees get to work in the back and use the equipment for free."

"Huh. I should probably get a job if I want to be able to get more shoes." A beat. "Toby took some of mine."

"You could probably even get a job at one of the places in town that sells them, to get a discount," Jim mused. "And that way, you can keep yourself and Toby stocked up on footwear for cheap."

It was brilliant.

"And then maybe you can get cheap shoes too, huh?" He was onto you, Jim.

"Well, boots," Jim replied with a grin. "I'm more of a boots kind of guy. But I wouldn't want you to get in trouble over them or anything."

"Do we even have a shoe shop on island?"

"You know, I don't think I've ever seen one? But there's that clothes place with the really girly name. I'm pretty sure they sell shoes."

Stan gave that some thought. "We could always send someone in there to check it out first."

Because they sure as well weren't going in first.

"And if they come out tinted pink and covered with sparkles, we know that pretty much anywhere on the mainland is our better bet?"

A beat.

"Except for Japan."

"Never Japan," Stan agreed. "Or Canada."

"Which is like Facebook," Jim attempted, once again demonstrating his stellar grasp on Earth geography.

In his own defense, it very well could be accurate, considering the shenanigans of the island so far.

"You're catching on," Stan replied with a grin. "Not so bad, right?"

"It could be way worse," Jim allowed with a grin. "I could still be on Montressor, being chased around by cops who have nothing better to do."

He did nothing wrong! Why was he the only one who could see this!?
