Fandom High Welcome Picnic, Front Lawn of the School, All Day: Part II

In order to give people a place to get away from the traffic jam of the buffet and information tables, most of the chairs and tables for guests were set up further out on the lawn, under a tall blue and gold tent. There was plenty of room for everyone to sit down and enjoy themselves, but it might not have all been dry. Did we mention being grateful that it was just water falling from the sky?

Claudia shook her head. "No, I think my first one was the monkey-ponies." It was hard to keep track, after awhile.

"Monkey...ponies." Bo tried to parse that. "You were invaded by monkeys? And ponies? At the same time? I can almost see monkeys--" Especially if they had some kind of mutated Bruce Willis movie ebola or something. "But what do invading ponies do? Nuzzle you to death?"

"Ohhhh, monkey-ponies. Right, I get it." No, no, she did not get it. She could picture it, but she in no way 'got' it. Because whatthefuck. "That makes so much more sense."

"Going on two months now. I've met vampires, werewolves, ghosts--" Not that the last two were in Fandom, but whatever. "--a death-god and a troll. Oh, and a clown parade. Just... monkey-ponies. Why? I mean, what universe do monkey-ponies come from?"

"You know what's sad?" Rhetorical question was rhetorical. "That actually does make sense." For Fandom Island values of sense. Or, fort that matter, Bo's Life values of sense.

That just gave her an edge up on those whose lives at home had a different value of sense.

"Those, I met." Bo made a face. "They came, I met, I stomped. Well, we. Tiny's pretty good at spider-stomping." He almost made it look like dancing. Giant, terrifying dancing.

"Oooh, good idea. I'll have to remember that if there's ever another metal spider invasion." Which was a good question, really. "Do these things tend to happen more than once, or is it more like what fresh hell is this every other week?"

"Well, yeah, that stuff is all just science. I get science. Just don't ask me about the crazy underwater drug zombies." It'd been nearly a year, but Rapture still made Claudia twitchy.

"Crazy underwater--" Oh, right. "This is me not asking. Except now I kind of want to know how you fought them off. Or why they were trying to invade in the first place."

Somehow with the spiders and monkey-head centaurs, she didn't feel the need to ask why. Go figure.
