Fandom High Welcome Picnic, Front Lawn of the School, All Day: Part II

In order to give people a place to get away from the traffic jam of the buffet and information tables, most of the chairs and tables for guests were set up further out on the lawn, under a tall blue and gold tent. There was plenty of room for everyone to sit down and enjoy themselves, but it might not have all been dry. Did we mention being grateful that it was just water falling from the sky?

"I know," Claudia said cheerfully. "It must be weird to go home to normalsville after Fandom," she guessed. It was't like where she went 'home' to was all that normal, so she had no experience in it, herself.

"Yeah, my old friends pretty much figure I've started taking tons of drugs when I talk about it," Quinn said, resigned. "But it's cool. People here are better anyhow."

"You should get them to come visit. That's probably the only way to get them to stop thinking you're on drugs."

"You're the second person to say that," Quinn said. "Maybe I should. A couple of people were out last year but I don't think they realized the full scope of the weird."

"It's too bad Robin graduated. A talking frog would totally help."

"Yeah, and that Jono guy with the scarf and the burning smell graduated too," Quinn pointed out. "But I swear to god, I think there's a talking pink pony hanging out near the teachers. I'm staying away."

"With the balloons on its butt? It's been making its rounds, yeah. I'm a little afraid."

"I'm just going to walk slowly past it and not make eye contact," Quinn said, sardonic. "Too bad I'm not seven. I would have loved a talking pink pony then."

"Maybe I should get a picture of it," Claudia mused. "Do you think it'd mind?"

She'd gotten used to thinking of things like pink ponies as having opinions and autonomy.

Quinn's lips twitched in a smile. "It doesn't look shy," she said. "Go ask it and find out."

She didn't even blink at how weird that would have sounded to her a year ago.

Claudia pursed her lips, then nodded. "Okay!"

She headed over to where the pony was devouring an inordinate number of baked goods. "Uh, hi," she said. "Can I take your picture?"

Pinkie ~~totally shared the same mun~~ looked up and grinned. "Oh, yay, of course! Can I take yours, too?"

Claudia managed to let the pony talk her into snapping a few different poses, then returned to where Quinn waited, looking a bit shell shocked.

"Yeah, okay, she's really not shy."

"I noticed," Quinn said, from where she'd been watching the encounter. "That was sort of awesome."

She sighed happily. "Hooray for Fandom?"

"Hooray, indeed."
