Fandom High Welcome Picnic, Front Lawn of the School, All Day: Part II

In order to give people a place to get away from the traffic jam of the buffet and information tables, most of the chairs and tables for guests were set up further out on the lawn, under a tall blue and gold tent. There was plenty of room for everyone to sit down and enjoy themselves, but it might not have all been dry. Did we mention being grateful that it was just water falling from the sky?

Ariel chuckled a little at that. "Well, I don't know if I'd call myself a wagon," she said, "but I do like to catch all the new faces and see how they're getting settled in. So...how are we getting settled in so far?"

"Nothing has scared me off yet." Then again he wasn't the type to scare easily. "But the place is gonna take some getting used to."

"See, and that just makes me wonder what you've been told so far," Ariel said, but she smiled a little. "It's worth getting used to. This place is great."

"I've gotten covered on time travel, island travel, gremlins, I can only imagine what else I'll get to discover while I'm here," Cassel said. "It's shaping up to be more exciting than the last school I was at, so that's something."

"Was your last school just really boring?" Ariel wondered. "Or just boring by comparison?"

"By comparison," Cassel told her. "My last school was for rich kids who had gotten kicked out of the really prestigious schools, so the people there were interesting."

Which, of course, prompted Ariel to ask the only question anyone could have in response to that: "So what did you do to get kicked out of the really prestigious schools?"

"Oh I didn't get kicked out of any schools," he said with a wave of his hand. "I was the poor kid in a school with rich kids that got kicked out of prestigious schools."

Cassel was a good boy uh-huh.

"Uh-huh." Ariel was allowed at least a little bit of skepticism in her grin, right? "And did you get kicked out of that one to send you here?"
