Fandom High Welcome Picnic, Front Lawn of the School, All Day: Part II

In order to give people a place to get away from the traffic jam of the buffet and information tables, most of the chairs and tables for guests were set up further out on the lawn, under a tall blue and gold tent. There was plenty of room for everyone to sit down and enjoy themselves, but it might not have all been dry. Did we mention being grateful that it was just water falling from the sky?

Wow, everypony sure looked weird in this town. Still, Pinkie knew better than to stare. That was just rude. And she'd never make any new friends here by being rude --

OOO FOOD.

Within two minutes of arriving, Pinkie had acquired herself a whipped cream beard. Look, you try eating a pie when you don't have opposable thumbs.

There was a PONY. Someone let their pony free to eat all the food.

"Okay!" Kenzi called out. "If no one claims this pony in the next five minutes, it's mine!"

Pinkie blinked at Kenzi, then licked the whipped cream from her face in one great big swirl of tongue, leaving nary a trace behind.

"Your what?" she asked, genuinely curious. "Do you want to be friends?"

"...."

Stare.

"HOLY SHIT TALKING PINK PONY. YES. FRIENDS!" Are you kidding? Friends forever!

"Well of course I talk, silly! It sure is hard to invite people to parties if you can't talk! You could write it, of course, but then what if they can't read? Then you'd be a real pickle, let me tell you!" This was all said at rather incredible speed before Pinkie stuck out a front hoof cheerfully. "Hi! I'm Pinkie Pie! What's your name?"

"Parties?"

Kenzi's brain was doing a tango between they drugged the food, I am SO high and Pink pony! Talking! Her inner 10-year-old just thought they'd hit the jackpot.

"Kenzi, I'm Kenzi, you're the first talking pony I've met, and hey, should I bring pickles to the party or something else?" Like weed? Just roll with it, right?

"Ooo, that'd be neat! You could bring pickles and pears and pralines and pies and pecans and popovers and plantains!"

SOOOOOOOOO HIGH.

"Personally, I plan on purchasing peppers and pancetta," Kenzi told Pinkie very seriously. She sniffed her food, then took another bite. What the hell.

"That's a perfectly proper plan," Pinkie decided. "Are you going to take my party class? You would be a wonderful student!"

"Pinkie, I am so there. If I am not scheduled for your class, I will cut the class I am scheduled for and show up to witness the awesome and spread the word," Kenzi said very soberly. For someone who was STONED. OH YES.

Pinkie popped up on her hind legs and threw her front legs enthusiastically into the air in a V. "Yay!"

Don't ask where she was hiding the handful of streamers and confetti she just threw into the air. Somethings were better left unknown.

"Oh, I do hope you're in the class, I'd hate for you to get in trouble by skipping out on some other poor teacher's class, but I really want you in my class because you're clearly a very fun pony and would be chock full of great party ideas to share with everypony else!"

The high-pitched squeaky giggle was Kenzi's brain having way too much fun with all the pony references. IN A NICE WAY, JEEZ.

"I do too!" And another Victory V there, she couldn't help herself. "And trouble is my middle name, Pinkie. Don't worry about it, I can evade all authority!"

Aside from Social Services. Magnificent bastards that they were.

"My middle name is Diane. Do you have a trouble cutie mark?" Pinkie attempted to surreptitiously check Kenzi's ~~ass~~ hip. "You sure do wear a lot of clothes!"

There was a pony and it was pink and covered in whipped cream and Ariel was so there.

"Um," she said, tilting her head and biting the crap out of her lip to keep from bursting out into giggles, "you've got a little something..." She pointed to her face in a subtle attempt to suggest that the whipped cream beard was perhaps just a little fleck of something that might not otherwise be noticed.

"Oh, where?" Pinkie checked her flank, then leaned down to look at her belly between her legs, then attempted to stare at her own forelock. "What kind of something is it? Is it a prize? Did I win?"

It was pretty much impossible not to giggle at something like that. "It's kind of a prize!" she reasoned. "It looks like whipped cream. Just a little bit. Right here." Ariel gave her chin a little tap before chuckling again. "Unless you were saving it for later."

"Oh, that!" Pinkie licked up the whipped cream with one great swirl of her tongue, totally unphased by the giggling. Making people laugh and smile was what she did. "That's the best way to eat a pie, you know!"

"I didn't know that!" Ariel admitted with a laugh. "But now I do. I'll have to give it a try sometime. I'm Ariel, by the way. Are you one of the new students?"

She would absolutely not be opposed to more talking animals, especially not when she'd just gotten back from a trip home.

"I'm Pinkie Pie! And I'm here to teach everypony how to get down and PAAAARTAAAAAY!"

"Really?" Ariel was absolutely delighted by the news, except for one fact, which made her snap her fingers a little. "Man, I knew I should have signed up for that class, too! It sounded like fun."

And a fun pink pony taught it. It sounded like just about the best class ever, especially if Pinkie Pie then added that there'd be singing.

Pinkie Pie just kind of assumed everyone knew there'd be singing.

"Oh that is disappointing! You seem like you'd be a great student. But maybe you can take another class I teach, later? And come to some parties, of course. I throw the very best parties around."

"Ohmygosh, I love parties!" And Ariel could easily believe that Pinkie Pie threw some great ones, too. "Beach parties are my favorite, though, I think. Do you think you'll throw a lot of them?"

"It's what I do," Pinkie said, extremely pleased to find another party enthusiast on the island. She turned sideways to show off her cutie mark. "See? Balloons!"

This made sense in Pinkie's world.

"Ohmygosh!"

Please, like adorable balloons on your butt needed explaination or logic.

"That's so cute! Is that a tattoo?"

"It's my cutie mark," said Pinkie, who was starting to understand that things worked a bit differently in Fandom than they did back home. "Ponies in Equestria all get them when we discover our own special talent that makes us unique!"
