BWI - Portalocity Lounge [Saturday Morning]

It had taken two and a half pep talks from her father to get Miley to be at least sociable today, the last half of which she was currently reading over text messages because her father couldn't figure out how to send messages that were greater than the character limit. Still, "sociable" was a far cry from her normal bubbly self. But she still had to be nice and talk to people, and she would, even if that talking to people was occasionally interrupted by texts from Lilly. (Hey, she had to read those! They could be important!)

She took a seat under the "Fandom High" banner in the airport lounge, with her three glittery pink suitcases and matching cosmetics bag all laid out on the floor in front of her. There. She could do this. If she could maintain a double life for four full years, she could survive boarding school. And maybe tonight, the president would call her back and manage to get her back into Seaview somehow!

...Hey, a girl could dream.

Miley's response was freakishly quick. "Standford," she said brightly, and yes the "d" was on purpose. "My best friend Lilly and I have wanted to go there for, like, ever."

Bart nodded as if he knew exactly what she was talking about. "Good luck."

"I'm not sure I ever really thought about college. Max probably wants to send me somewhere boring, though."

"Thanks," Miley said, smiling. "Is Max... your brother, or...?"

There was a pause and then Bart started laughing. "No. Max is a friend of my grandfather's. I've been staying with him and he's been... Teaching me, I guess."

"My family is kinda complicated."

Well, she could relate to that, at least.

"Gotcha," Miley said. "Believe me, I know all about complicated families. That's cool of him to teach you. Like what kind of stuff?"

"Max? He teaches me how to be a good person and how to take things slow and how to not get into trouble like that time I tried to drive and the car ended up over a cliff and then he came over and helped me by showing me how to keep the car from crashing and... " He suddenly realized what he was saying and his eyes went wide.

He looked around the room, then looked back at Miley, "Um... So, I know that this school is all special and stuff, but are we allowed to talk here? Like talk about... secret stuff?"

Miley tilted her head. Huh?

"Uh," she said. "Sure, if you want, I guess."

Bart looked around again and leaned over, speaking in a hushed tone, "You see, I'm kinda a superhero. I'm not usually supposed to talk about it."

He leans back and grins madly, clearly very proud of himself.

Oh, wonderful. The kid was crazy.

"Ooookay, then," Miley said, backing up a bit. "Weeeeell. If you'll excuse me, I have to, uh, to make a call. To some veeeery nice men with a veeeery big net."

Bart frowned. Max always told him that his powers weren't for showing off. But she didn't believe him.... hmmm... He thought for a moment.

He held out his hand, palm up. "Hey," He was gone as the word left his mouth, a scarlet blur in his place. A moment later, he was back, a donut on his hand. "Want a donut? It's from this place down the street, they look pretty good." He was grinning madly.

Miley stared.

"...Thanks," she said weakly, accepting the donut.

Yeah, totally worth it.

"I mean, that's not all I can do. As I said, my family is complicated. My grandfather was a superhero, my uncle was a superhero, my friends are all superheroes."

He thought for a moment. "I guess that's one of the reasons that Max wanted me to come out here."
