Try Not to Die!! [Tuesday, June 21st]

"Since this is our last class together," Anakin said, standing before the students on the causeway, "I've made your tasks a little more difficult today."

Anyone else have a bad feeling about that? Good. "Read your clues carefully, follow the directions of the locals--as much as you can understand them if you aren't fluent in what seems to be ancient Greek--and try not to die." With that he stepped back from the clue box.

Yeah, there was just no way either of these options was going to go well for Gabrielle. She knew how to catch fish (sort of), but not with a trident (which made her think of Finnick, and in turn of Katniss, and that was a distracting train of thought if she let herself dwell on it), but Xena enjoyed that task so much that Gabrielle tended to leave it to her when they camped near water.

Still, given the choice between that and bull-leaping . . . the ankle that was just barely healed up was one that she'd managed to sprain doing a somersault over a fixed pole. There was no way she was duplicating the feat over a moving animal with horns. So fishing it was, complete with a lot of swearing and flailing around and getting tangled up in the net and falling over into the water and scaring the fish because in any episode involving Gabrielle and a body of water it was obligatory for her to get fanservicey soaking wet.

Really, all she needed was slapstick-y music going in the background, but eventually she caught her twenty fish and got to move on.

. . . she suspected the being-soaking-wet part had helped sway the fishing master's opinion in her favor. Which was cause to sigh, but she was used to that.
