Try Not to Die!! [Tuesday, June 14, 2011]

A visibly annoyed (but at least he wasn't a kitten any more) Anakin stood in front of the Danger Shop's door waiting for his class to arrive, playing with a ribbon that had, until a few hours ago, been decoration around his neck. "Since we did the Old West last week, I decided to program the simulation with a scenario that is more familiar to me," he said, opening the door. "Welcome to the forest moon of Endor. Try not to die."

Gabrielle had one thing working in her favor here: being trussed up and facing inevitable death (particularly by fire) was pretty much old hat for her by now, as was trying to talk her way out of being the next meal, and Xena wasn't around for her to yell melodramatically for anyway it kept her from panicking.

Which was good; after a futile moment of waiting for the telltale screech of Xena's chakram to whistle toward her and cut through the ropes (the only way she knew to escape from these bondage situations), the lack of panic at least let her keep her head long enough to let her talk an Ewok into letting her go.

"You really don't want to do this," she told the Ewok. "My sisters -- I have a lot of them -- can turn into really large, angry birds. And did I mention we're mentally bonded? Did I? No? Ha! Well, we are, and if you eat me, oh, believe me, they'll know. And they'll come looking, and let me tell you one thing: ever been pecked to pieces by a flock of people-sized angry birds? No? Well, trust me when I say you really, really, really don't want to find out. Oooh, it's not pretty. Or pleasant. Besides, we live on a diet of rocks and driftwood and don't taste very good at all, but we do know some nice hair-braiding techniques like your friends are using on those other kids there, and if you just untie me instead of eating me I'll be happy to teach you some . . ."

Honestly, nobody should be this good at doing this.
