Rover, Martin Blank and Alanna Trebond sit at the registration table with information packets

Included in the packets are:
Your child's/ward's/whatever relationship you have with this person's Class Schedule
A Map of the School and Town
A Schedule of Events for Parents Weekend
The rules and regulations of Parents Weekend
A Coupon Book

At the desk is a sign saying:
Please sign in here for Parents Weekend

And depending who is looking at the sign it will magically say:
To ensure everyone's safety, please surrender any Firearms/Weaponry/Magical doodads that will cause harm to our students.

Your property will be returned to you before you leave.

ETA: Parents/Guardians are now required to check in on their own.
((OOC: In other words... If your parents are somewhat "normal" and unarmed they will not see the message. Unless they are packing some kind of weapon, and then they will be see it. Got it?))

Emily walks up to the registration table, handbag clutched to her side. She smiles wide and sees Rover, and is seemingly amused by him. "Is this where I sign in? I'm hear to see my granddaughter, Rory Gilmore. R-O-R-Y, although her real first name is Lorelai. That's L-O-R-E-L-A-I. I'm Emily. And do you know of any good restaurants in the area? The food at the hotel is simply awful. Their chefs are atrocious, you'd think the kitchen was run by chimpanzees."

Rory arrives at the table just in time to catch sight of Emily.

"Grandma! Hi!" she says cheerfully. "You're here."

*rover wiggles cheerfully.*

*as cheerfully as a rubbery ball can wiggle.*

*distorting, he gestures to Marty and Alanna.*

*and wiggles again.*

"Rory!" Emily exclaims, coming over to her to give her a short and somewhat awkward, but warm embrace.

"Don't you look lovely? Did you get your haircut? I like it. Polly at the club has her hair almost the same length, but yours has so much more bounce." She shifts and gestures toward the building. "So, this is your school? It's quite... foreboding."

"Foreboding?" Rory asks. "Well...it's a feat of architecture, really. Historic. And yes, I got my hair cut. Um. Thank you for noticing."

"Historic, yes," Emily nods. "So, how have you been? How is school, how are your friends?"

"Um. I'm good," Rory says, nodding. "Friends are good. You'll get to meet them."

"I should hope so," Emily says, adjusting her purse on her shoulder. "Speaking of, are any of the Huntzbergers in town this weekend?"

Rory shrugs. "I haven't the slightest idea, since Logan Huntzberger and I don't really talk."

"You should make an effort to get to know him; he comes from a wonderful family." For once in her life, Emily doesn't press the issue (for now). "I met your friend Martin, he gave me this packet of information. He seems like a nice gentleman. Although I've never heard of any Blanks before, must be new money from Silicon Valley I imagine," she sighs.

Rory arches her brows. "Um. I think he's from Chicago? Or Michigan? And he's a really nice guy. Very good friend of mine."

"Must be from the Bloomfield area. Lovely houses being built out there now, although I usually can't stand modern home architecture."

She looks around, "So, what do we do now? Are we officially checked in?"

"Um...want to see my dorm room?" Rory asks. "It's this way (http://www.livejournal.com/users/rory__gilmore/22584.html)," she adds, pointing.

"Of course, dear," she smiles, following and keeping her eyes dancing back and forth in the direction of the crowds around the table in a wide-eyed stare.

((I'm so tempted to throw Smith references in here. [iz a dork]))

Marty makes a face to say "Sorry! Tried to stop her!"

Rory surreptiously rolls her eyes.

Marty rushes over. "AHHH Ms. Gilmore. Lovely to meet you. I'm friends with your granddaughter. I believe we have all the information you need in our packets. Here's yours for Rory."

Emily looks a bit confused, but soon turns her attention to Marty, immeaditely scowling at his outfit and his hair but then plastering on a grin. "Nice to meet you, young man. Thank you very much. And you are...?"

Marty politely offers his hand. "Martin Blank. Your granddaughter has said many wonderful things about you. And may I say that's a lovely outfit you are wearing this evening. Is that from Milan?"

Emily shakes his hand, still giving him a suspicious look, but the tension in her face relaxing a bit.

"Thank you. A new London designer, actually. I generally don't go for something so bold (the outfit? not at all bold) but one must have a sense of adventure, right Mr. Blank?"

"Absolutely Ms. Gilmore. A sense of adventure is a wonderful thing to have. Now if you please excuse me I have some other people waiting to register, but it was lovely to meet you."

Rory shoots Marty a look of gratitude and mouths, "Thank you."

When Marty is out of view of Emily he mouths back "Whew!"
