Parent Check-in

Rover, Martin Blank and Alanna Trebond sit at the registration table with information packets

Included in the packets are:
Your child's/ward's/whatever relationship you have with this person's Class Schedule
A Map of the School and Town
A Schedule of Events for Parents Weekend
The rules and regulations of Parents Weekend
A Coupon Book

At the desk is a sign saying:
Please sign in here for Parents Weekend

And depending who is looking at the sign it will magically say:
To ensure everyone's safety, please surrender any Firearms/Weaponry/Magical doodads that will cause harm to our students.

Your property will be returned to you before you leave.

Thank you!

ETA: Parents/Guardians are now required to check in on their own.
((OOC: In other words... If your parents are somewhat "normal" and unarmed they will not see the message. Unless they are packing some kind of weapon, and then they will be see it. Got it?))

Parker walks down the stairs, impeccably dressed, every hair in place, and begins looking for her father and Sydney.

Ah! And there she is now. *looks up, waiting for her to notice him*

Parker finally catches a glimpse of Sydney--

-- and her father is nowhere around.

For about three seconds, she looks like someone just slapped her. Then she pulls it together, and walks toward Sydney.

"Syd? Where's my father?"

Ah, Ms. Parker. It's good to see you again.

Your father... *pauses slightly* ...was called away on urgent business, and will not be able to attend. He, uh, asked me to convey his regrets.

"Urgent--" Parker's voice wobbles, then firms. "Of course. I'll see him at Thanksgiving, anyway." She clenches her fingers, then relaxes, holding out a hand to him. "It's good to see you, Sydney."

*shakes hand and smiles* So formal, Ms. Parker?

Parker's stiffness melts, and she finally smiles. And does something she hasn't done in a while-- gives him a hug.

"I'm glad you're here," she whispers.

Sydney smiles and hugs her back. Much as he knows it hurts her, he's rather glad Mr. Parker bailed and he can have her all to himself. She'd never unwind this much with her father around, and the way he hears it, she desperately needs to.

"I wouldn't miss it."

*Parker nods to him, then ignores him -- he's part of the scenery, for her*
