Try Not to Die!! [Tuesday, May 24, 3rd period]

The city they were surrounded by reminded Anakin a bit of Coruscant (if with fewer flying speeders), and while the name of the class was Try Not to Die (with two exclamation points, sigh), he didn't really want to lose a student or three in the streets of Tokyo.

Which was why he'd given them all bright yellow rain slickers with tracking beacons sewed into the collars, just in case. He'd be able to find them regardless--the Force was useful this way--but this would give him a bit of a head start. That they looked like a group of yellow Skittles was immaterial.

"Welcome back," he said from under the hood of his (not yellow, thank you very much) Jedi robe. "Today your tasks have been set up throughout futuristic Japan. As you might be able to guess from the not-exactly-thrilled-to-see-you expressions on the faces of the people around us, this is a much more dangerous scenario than our last few weeks. Make smart decisions today, don't take off your rain coats, and try not to die."

With that useful bit of information imparted, he stepped away from the clue box.

Warren was kind of timid, naturally. But not in any sense of the word that would keep him from choosing Drifting over karaoke. After all, this place was wet, and being crammed into a raincoat and unable to stretch his wings just served to highlight the fact that he hadn't been able to get out to fly since the weekend, and that it didn't look like he was going to be able to do so at least until the island relocated again.

Who knew? Warren was a bit of a speed demon when he was flight-deprived and put behind the wheel of a really fast car.

He was so going to have to get himself one of these things.

As soon as Sam saw the other option was singing, he chose drifting. He owned a car so he knew what everything was when he got behind the wheel. Ignition on, gas pressed, car going and Sam actually thought he might be able to catch up.

He had no idea how he managed to get lost but he did. There was some turn somewhere he'd taken or some fork in the road because now he was facing a dead end with rain pouring down and having to reverse very carefully backwards to find the road.

Yeah, this was just great.

Well, Surreal couldn't sing, and she wasn't timid, so to the drifting she went.

She couldn't drive, either, but that was neither here nor there. She got some attractive male to show her how the strange coach worked, and then she was off. She had no idea what 'traffic laws' were, or that they even existed, but she was very good at not-dying. Some of her competitors had ended up crashed into things trying to avoid the reckless foreign-girl, but that so wasn't her fault.

This was much, much cooler. Before starting Jocelyn took the time to draw a quick rune on herself and give herself clear vision through the rain. Ending up a pancake in some weird futuristic Tokyo was not in her plans.

She sped through the streets, enjoying this task so much more than the last.

Singing? No thank you.

But Kate knew how to drive, and how not to get arrested and she was definitely anything but timid. This part should be simple enough.

Squall normally had his Guardian Forces junctioned to provide the biggest boosts to his strength, stamina, and constitution. Before the race started, he took a minute of quiet meditation and rearranged things to put the biggest gains in his reflexes and perception -- and then cast Haste on himself.

It didn't make up for ALL the time he'd wasted in the host club, but he was able to gain quite a bit over the course of the race.

It didn't take Goose much consideration as to what option he wanted to do, he had already lost considerable time and he knew that he didn't want to sing.

Add in the fact that it allowed him to go quite fast, Goose wasn't going to pass up the opportunity and somehow he managed to avoid crashing.

Singing didn't sound appealing, so Richie went with drifting. Oops?

Driving in scary futuristic rainy Japan was not the same as the occasional motorcycle race through the streets of Seacouver. At least he didn't crash.
