Summer Fitness and Survival, Monday, Period Four

Bond had let his class know to come down to the beach for today's class and to wear something they didn't mind getting wet. When they arrived down at the beach, they would have found several
kayaks dragged up above the tide line, and Bond leaning on an oar.

"One of the most important skills needed for survival is teamwork," Bond began. "If you can't trust the people you might be stranded with to watch your back, if only for a while, then you're already dead. Which is why we'll be practising your teamwork skills having a little race today. I want you to find a partner, get your kayak into the water and navigate the course." He pointed out to a series of bouys bobbing out on the water. "The winners will be determined by a combination of speed at finishing the course and lack of mishaps in the process."

"And do remember to put on your vests first."

Bobby was going to make Jack be his partner (becaause that's what you did when you were a little brother), but then he saw Jason and immediately bounced over.

"Hi Jason! Wanna be partners? I mean, I don't know how to kayak at all so it's okay if you don't. But maybe we'd be naturally good at it!"

"I don't know anything about kayaking either, so at least we're even?" Jason said. "Are you sure you don't want to pair up with someone with experience?"

"It's probably better to be even," Bobby decided. "Then it's both of our fault when we flip over."

"Or we could aim for not flipping over," Jason suggested. "But you should probably get your vest on right just in case I feel an urge to get you wet." He was totally teasing...probably.
