Sex And Candy, Wednesday, Second Period

Cindy had left a note on the classroom door telling the students to head up to the Danger Shop. As the students arrived, they would see that it had been programmed to look like a beautiful garden. A closer examination would show that everything in the garden was edible--more than simply edible, even. Much of it was candy. Spun-sugar flowers decorated the path. The bark of the trees might be made of candied peppermint, or peanut brittle, or simple chocolate. Even the 'dirt' was made of crumbled cookie pieces, with gummy worms burrowing through. Colorful rocks were little pieces of hard candy and the weeping willow dangled branches of thin caramel over the path. The apple tree was growing candy apples, of every different variety, and the tiny lemon tree gushed lemonade when the bark was cut.

Today, class was held in a garden full of moddable candy and treats.

A really sharp observer might notice that there was no sign of Cindy.

"I'm Dave Nelson and I'm a sophomore," Dave said, giving a little half-wave. "I've always kind of liked the Emperor's New Clothes. But I think part of that is just because I had a picture book version of it as a kid, and they really had to jump through some hoops to not show nudity in it. And that's just not something you expect from a kid's book."

Cindy laughed a little. "I appreciate the honesty," she said. "And you're right, I wouldn't expect it. I'd ask you about the underlying message, but the Emperor's New Clothes is a fairly self-explanatory. Instead, let me ask this: have you ever had the chance to be the little boy who speaks up?"

"Not really, no. The mayor in my town actually did wear clothes," Dave joked. "Sorry, I couldn't resist that one."

Cindy chuckled. "Then you missed you chance to convince him how comfortable a new suit might be. I know what I'll be assigning as extra credit."

Not with Fandom's mayor, though. Nooooo waaay.

"But I got to not see him naked. I think I'm happier that way," Dave said. "But to actually answer your question, no, I've never been in that situation. If I were, I'd like to think I'd speak up."
