Fandom High Graduation Ceremony, Class of 2011, Saturday Early Evening - Part One!

The ceremony was once again held at sunset for the benefit of the graduates’ less diurnal guests, but the lawn was well-lit with twinkling blue and gold lights draped across bleachers, stage, surrounding trees and specially-assembled trellises, giving the overall effect of a peaceful fairy grove. (Not, say, Las Vegas. Tasteful twinkling lights.)

The staff having taken note of every previous graduation including the most recent, the lights had been purchased from Acme Decorations Studio with a money-back No Coming To Life And Terrorizing Your Party Guests Guarantee... and there was a rather large cache of weapons stashed in a trunk behind the podium. The chance that it would rain toys that could later be used for self-defense was slightly less than the chance that there would be a need for self-defense.

No one could say Fandom High wasn’t a learning experience.

If he was going to pull the strong and stoic thing, Rose was going to be perfectly happy leaning into his shoulder a little (and making sure not drool). Just because when you were sleeping sitting up, a little support was nice.

Dimitri had gotten really good at being around Rose in the last weeks, but that didn't mean he didn't curse himself for enjoying that she was leaning against him. He honestly didn't feel he deserved the pleasant feelings she somehow managed to inspire in him and yet he didn't know how to stop it.

Other than moving away, which he was not doing.

Rose would have to admit that pleasant feelings weren't exactly what she hoped to inspire in him. Pleasant was like nice, and nice was like kissing your sister. Not something anyone gets a lot of pleasure out of.

But she wasn't moving away either even after she stopped dozing if only because sitting so close to him made it feel like the past year was mostly a dream.

Oh, and he knew she wasn't sleeping anymore, but after how she'd helped him through his nightmares, it wasn't as if Dimitri was going to deny her if she wanted to lean against him.

Besides, he still liked it.
