Fandom High Graduation Ceremony, Class of 2011, Saturday Early Evening - Part One!

The ceremony was once again held at sunset for the benefit of the graduates’ less diurnal guests, but the lawn was well-lit with twinkling blue and gold lights draped across bleachers, stage, surrounding trees and specially-assembled trellises, giving the overall effect of a peaceful fairy grove. (Not, say, Las Vegas. Tasteful twinkling lights.)

The staff having taken note of every previous graduation including the most recent, the lights had been purchased from Acme Decorations Studio with a money-back No Coming To Life And Terrorizing Your Party Guests Guarantee... and there was a rather large cache of weapons stashed in a trunk behind the podium. The chance that it would rain toys that could later be used for self-defense was slightly less than the chance that there would be a need for self-defense.

No one could say Fandom High wasn’t a learning experience.

"You'd be right if it wasn't for that whole money factor," she pointed out.

"It's easier to be confident about it if I ignore that part," Zayne admitted.

"Then I won't drawn any more attention to it," she said immediately.

"You're a good friend," Zayne said. "So, are you looking forward to time away from here?"

"Yes and no?" Jaina said after a pause. "I'll be glad to get back to what I do and see my family-" She said this like she actually got to see them often. "-but I think I'm going to miss it here more than I thought."

"I hope that means you'll visit sometimes when they have alumni events," Zayne said. "Otherwise it's going to be tough to keep in touch."

"I'm going to try. I know I might have to juggle some things around sometimes, but I want to get back here where I can," she said. "There are too many people I'm leaving behind. Visits make it better."

"Glad to hear it," Zayne said. "It's kind of the same for me. I have to take off pretty early tomorrow to get back to Gryph and everyone because we have another job. But I was able to get him to put it off for a couple days."

"Every little bit helps," she said. "And for everything else, there are comlinks."

"Does that work over four thousand years?" Zayne asked.

"Mine should. I can always take a look at yours real quick to see if I can modify it according to mine," she offered.

"If you can take a look at it after the ceremony, that would be great," Zayne said.

And then he paused and thought about it. "Huh. I've never even tried to use it on the alumni network. I guess that'll happen when you're a little busy for a few months."

"Yes, it will," she said. "As long as you take time out of your busy schedule to return calls, it'll be fine."

"Well, at least now I'm in control of my busy schedule. For the most part..." Zayne said. "But that gives more time to call."
