Fandom High Graduation Ceremony, Class of 2011, Saturday Early Evening - Part One!

The ceremony was once again held at sunset for the benefit of the graduates’ less diurnal guests, but the lawn was well-lit with twinkling blue and gold lights draped across bleachers, stage, surrounding trees and specially-assembled trellises, giving the overall effect of a peaceful fairy grove. (Not, say, Las Vegas. Tasteful twinkling lights.)

The staff having taken note of every previous graduation including the most recent, the lights had been purchased from Acme Decorations Studio with a money-back No Coming To Life And Terrorizing Your Party Guests Guarantee... and there was a rather large cache of weapons stashed in a trunk behind the podium. The chance that it would rain toys that could later be used for self-defense was slightly less than the chance that there would be a need for self-defense.

No one could say Fandom High wasn’t a learning experience.

Lindsay arrived, found a seat, and was ready to support the graduates.

Rinoa was circulating, and of course she had to say hi to her roommate.

"I'm really glad you're not up there," she said, shivering a little. "We're losing too many people as it is."

"Yeah, I'm glad we have at least another year before we're up there," Lindsay replied, smiling at her roommate.

"I have no idea where I'm gonna go from here," Rinoa admitted. "I kind of liked the future-me, though. Maybe I should try to aim for that."

"I remember thinking future-you is cool just like present-you," Lindsay replied, not even phased at all by what she had just said. Proof she was already sorta used to time anomalies.

"I don't know what I want to do either. But I know I don't want to be blonde." Because that was just weird.

Rinoa flushed. "I was just happy I wasn't evil," she admitted. "And awww, I liked the blonde hair. You know? Future-you was ... it's like she wasn't afraid of letting people find out she was pretty."

Now it was Lindsay's turn to flush. "Really? That is an interesting way of looking at it." And also probably true. "Guess future-me was more confident in some ways."

And now, Rinoa was going to watch her roommate, intrigued.

"So ... why are you afraid?" she asked. "Or not as confident, or ... however you want to say it."

Lindsay shrugged a bit. "I don't know if I'm afraid so much. More that I don't care about being glamorous or whatever. It's kind of easier that way for now."

"I can see that," Rinoa allowed. "I mean, if it's not you, it's not. I wouldn't want to be one of those people who spends six hours on their hair every day."

"Exactly. I just save all that for the school dances," Lindsay added, grinning. Though she did wear pretty dresses at those things, she also wore very minimal makeup and never did anything with her hair.
