Fandom High Graduation Ceremony, Class of 2011, Saturday Early Evening - Part One!

The ceremony was once again held at sunset for the benefit of the graduates’ less diurnal guests, but the lawn was well-lit with twinkling blue and gold lights draped across bleachers, stage, surrounding trees and specially-assembled trellises, giving the overall effect of a peaceful fairy grove. (Not, say, Las Vegas. Tasteful twinkling lights.)

The staff having taken note of every previous graduation including the most recent, the lights had been purchased from Acme Decorations Studio with a money-back No Coming To Life And Terrorizing Your Party Guests Guarantee... and there was a rather large cache of weapons stashed in a trunk behind the podium. The chance that it would rain toys that could later be used for self-defense was slightly less than the chance that there would be a need for self-defense.

No one could say Fandom High wasn’t a learning experience.

"Hi Luke!" Rory said with a grin, waving as Juliet giggled. "Now, you I know. You, on the other hand," she added, looking past him at the other Luke, "are a little younger than I'm used to. Hi, Luke."

That was weird.

"One, two," Juliet counted proudly, pointing from Luke to Luke. "TWO LOOS!"

"Here for Leia?" Rory guessed. "Um, this is...your half-sister from an alternate reality," she added, gesturing to Juliet.

"I Ju-eet!" she yelled at him, flailing in the other Luke's arms.

"Hi, Ju-eet," Luke repeated. "I'm here for Leia, yes. She tried to explain some of this last night."

"It's a little daunting," Rory agreed, smiling softly. "What's going to make it less confusing for you? Pretending you don't theoretically share DNA with the bundle of curls the other-you is holding and we're all just nice strangers? That's how my relatives usually deal."

"Are they here too?" Luke asked, looking around.

"Nah, I graduated a few years ago," Rory said, shaking her head. "But they were freaked at graduation and at the wedding. My grandparents still think that Jedi are a type of Buddhist monk."
