Fandom High Graduation Ceremony, Class of 2011, Saturday Early Evening - Part One!

The ceremony was once again held at sunset for the benefit of the graduates’ less diurnal guests, but the lawn was well-lit with twinkling blue and gold lights draped across bleachers, stage, surrounding trees and specially-assembled trellises, giving the overall effect of a peaceful fairy grove. (Not, say, Las Vegas. Tasteful twinkling lights.)

The staff having taken note of every previous graduation including the most recent, the lights had been purchased from Acme Decorations Studio with a money-back No Coming To Life And Terrorizing Your Party Guests Guarantee... and there was a rather large cache of weapons stashed in a trunk behind the podium. The chance that it would rain toys that could later be used for self-defense was slightly less than the chance that there would be a need for self-defense.

No one could say Fandom High wasn’t a learning experience.

Triela took the piece of paper solemnly. It was a bit odd to think that such a little thing represented the last three and a half years of her life.

But it did.

Now she just had to figure out what to do with it.

Dinah wiped away tears, hoping like hell no one saw, then swallowed and yelled, "TRIELA YEAH!" As loudly as she could, whistling and stamping her feet.

Scully's clapping was even louder, and she joined in with the blonde girl to call "Triela!"

Momoko clapped and smiled. She had so many emotions roiling around about Triela, but at this moment she was totally just happy for her.

"Yay Triela!" shouted Lion-o, clapping enthusiastically.

Karla had tears in her eyes as Triela took her diploma, but she was on her feet and cheering, too.

She'd made it this far. She'd had several years of a 'normal' childhood. She'd had friends. It didn't make up for it, but it helped.

"Yay, Triela, yeah!"

<<Typically, you frame it and hang it on a wall, or stick it in a closet,>> Emma's dry mental voice informed her, despite the hint of laughter under the words.

Triela's glance turned to Emma, as did a grin. <<You want an extra one for your own closet?>>

Francine hadn't known Triela super-well (though she oddly remembered explaining second base to her the first time they'd met), but certainly well enough for applause and cheers for a familiar face.
