Jono didn't care that it was Easter. Jono's time on the island was running out, and so help him, he was going to open the bloody library today if it killed him.

... Which, he was beginning to think, it very possibly might. He'd been beaned by several puffed marshmallow bunnies and chicks on the way in, and there was plastic grass tangled up in his boots. They were nice boots, thank you. He didn't need green threads of plastic stuck up in them.

If it had only been that, he probably would have been okay. He might have managed to overcome his grumpiness and get on with his day. But when he got up from his seat to get a book to read, and then returned only to crush a creme egg into the arse of his trousers...

With the amount of ranting that he was doing, there was going to be a gaggle of little greenish lambs showing up in no time.

It was a few more minutes before Jono finally made his way back, his bottom nice and clean and his wrappings... more or less marshmallow-free. Cleaning them off had been a matter of thoroughly unwrapping himself and giving them some serious scrubbing under the running faucet, so he was still steaming a little as he made his way back into the library.

And kind of making an 'aww' face. She really was reading to them? He didn't have the heart to interrupt.

Give her a few more pages, and he'd realize the subject of the book, too.

Raven smiled at Jono as he returned, then continued to read. She'd finish this chapter at least, though when she got to the part about the discovery of the white juiceless vegetables and the two small holes in each one, and the cat's resulting suspicions, she had to pause and frown.

"A vampire bunny rabbit?" she said. "There can be no such thing."

[And now I disappear for a bit, but I shall return!]

//Children's literature,// Jono offered, bending over a little to try to get a look at the book. //Th'rabbit's a vegetarian, if I recall correctly...//

It had been ages since he'd read that book, himself.

//He's harmless.//

"I suppose so, if he is only eating vegetables," Raven said, a little skeptical. She approved very much of that, at least!

She closed the book and set it back down. "I did not intend to read to them about vampire bunnies. It was the first book I found." Thank you, library.

The library was a shit-disturber. Jono would be the first to tell Raven that on any given day.

//Th'bunny part is thematic, at least,// he offered. That helped, right?

"I prefer the marshmallow bunnies," Raven said, wrinkling her nose.

At least when they weren't pelting her boyfriend.

//Really? I could do without those ones, for whatever reason.//

Jono was being a smartass again. He reserved the right to be, on days when the island saw fit to pelt him with delicious things that he couldn't eat.

//Tell you what, Sunshine. You take th'marshmallows, and I'll take th'book with veg-sucking bunny rabbits, and we'll both be happy.//

"But I want you more than I wish for any type of bunny," Raven said. She managed a put-upon sigh; the vampire rabbit was strange, but not frightening, at least, so she could be humorous about it. "So if you come with vegetable-sucking vampire bunnies, then I must take those as well."

So long as they stayed away from her lunch.

//You know, that's practically begging for Fandom Island to turn me into a vampiric bunny before I graduate,// he mused.

He wasn't terribly concerned, really. Fandom had turned him into other people before, sure, but it had never turned him into an animal. He'd managed to get off light these past two years in that regard.

Raven rose from the chair, checking behind her and picking up the egg that appeared so that it wouldn't be accidentally squished. "Well," she said, setting the egg down on the desk, then stepping closer and slipping her arms around Jono's neck, "since I am a vegetarian, I will have plenty of vegetables to feed you at least."

It would be much better than Karla the very carnivorous kitty who had wanted her to take her hunting.

And as an added bonus, the Jono bunny wouldn't be able to mock people's tiny teeth!

//All things considered, I do rather appreciate how much feeding me you've actually done lately,// he noted, wrapping his arms around her waist. There were still little curls of steam creeping up from the edges of his wrappings, but if he focused on pulling the temperature down a bit, that wasn't a concern, either.

"I am glad I could spoil you," Raven said, closing her eyes for a moment to imagine a tender kiss.

"You deserve it, even if you think you do not," she said as she opened her eyes again.

//Well, it kept me from eating crayons all weekend,// Jono noted, a smirk settling in around the edges of his eyes as he leaned forward and thought a kiss right along back. //Though I don't think anything could've stopped me from th'candy apple I traded my crown for.//

Which had been entirely worth it.

//Still, I'm going to have to find some way to return th'favour.//

"You did teach me the meaning of swear words when I was transformed into a child the last time this happened," Raven pointed out with a smile.

It wasn't quite the same, she'd admit.

//Well, I taught you which ones not to say in polite company,// Jono replied with a little shrug of his shoulders. //Not entirely th'same, really.//

Though maybe a little weird, in retrospect.

"No, but you did satisfy my intense curiosity," Raven said. "And I was very grateful for that, even if I could not truly show it." Since she'd been such a somber child.

[*SIGH* Hitting post helps, really.]

The word was creepy, Raven. You'd been a creepy child.

//Well, then I'm glad,// Jono decided, vaguely bemused. //Though I must say, I do rather prefer teaching you things as you are.//

Way less creepy, for one. Way more sexy, for another.

She wasn't creepy! She was serious and emotionless and...all right, creepy.

"I enjoy learning from you the way I am," she agreed. "The things I learn now are much more interesting."

She sent him the feel of her nails on his back as a demonstration.
