It had certainly been a long time since Blackagar had been in the library. So consider it a touch of nostalgia that sent him there this morning.

Once he found no student was there to open it, he didn't leave right away. Instead, he sat down behind the desk and allowed himself a small smile. Not that many people would believe it if they saw it.

Blackagar glanced up, allowing the nostalgic little smile to grow. It was interesting, wasn't it? How so little seemed to change here.

"It's very static," she agreed.

Unlike Inhuman civilization over the last twenty years. Dammit.

"Which is convenient for us, really."

Well, it was Marvel...

Standing up, Blackagar held out a hand to her both to be polite and because perhaps he liked it a bit. They had come back to see, hadn't they? Perhaps there were some of the X-Men around...

"Or Captain America," Medusa suggested as she took his hand. "A lot of people we know went here, didn't they?" she realized.

Only they didn't know them until later of course.

It always made him wonder just how differently things could have gone had they known more about their future before returning home.

Well, if someone had told Medusa she was going to turn into an amnesiac jewel thief she would have done something different. "A lot of things, I think," she said sadly, thinking about Maximus. And Crystal. And all the times they'd had to move the city. "But some of it I don't know if it could have been helped." Stupid humans. Stupid Skrulls.

They managed to survive them both, at least. Even with Crystal's idiot husband stealing things.

The first idiot husband. Though, really, Ronan wasn't too horrible.

Yes, as pieces they could have married Crystal off to as a political pawn--and after her first husband it was a miracle she still had some value as one--Ronan wasn't half bad.

Pietro, on the other hand...well, just thinking about him made Medusa rub her temple. "We really should have never let her marry him." In their defense they had also been young and stupid.

Young, stupid and hoping that she would have love like they did. Unfortunately they should have noticed the Maximoff name as something to avoid. A lot.

Live and learn.

Was she looking forward to the little party later in the evening?

Yes, in retrospect the 'in love' thing had definitely had something to do with it. "You know, I think it might have been simpler if she'd married Johnny Storm." It looked like admitting that left a sour taste in Medusa's mouth. Mutants were at least the next step in human evolution.

She considered it for a moment before admitting, "I don't know. It will be interesting to see how everyone has fared."

And to show off the queen she'd become? Blackagar brushed the tips of his fingers over the hair framing her face. Not really to do much more than give something like comfort.

Crystal was always a sore point in the family. Not as much as Maximus, but he had the good grace to be predictable about it.

Medusa's hair twined around his wrist and hand, and the corners of her mouth turned up. "More like show off my wonderful husband and king."

They weren't talking about Maximus this weekend. It was a rule. That she'd just made up.

That earned her the quickest of smiles before he kissed the corner of her mouth. But it was a genuine one, at least. She could even talk to that icy mutant about her adventures as a thief.

..teasing!

Good, because they appeared to be staying in her old dorm room for the weekend and there was no couch there for her to make him sleep on. Although it practically counted as punishment already; the bed was positively tiny. "I had amnesia," she reminded him.

It was like a Lifetime movie. A bad one.

And stole jewels. Which was adorable in a particular way that he would never mention to anyone else. If only because he couldn't.

Medusa folded her arms across her chest and said, "Hmph." And then subsided, because she couldn't stay mad at him for very long even over things that weren't actually fairly absurd. "All right, it is kind of funny," she admitted. If it had happened to someone else she would have made fun of them.

She would never stop.

He smiled anyway, twisting his fingers through her hair. It could have been worse, no doubt. She could have been working like a normal human instead.

"No, I couldn't have. It was the hair, you know," she said thoughtfully. "Everyone was scared of me, because of my hair, and I didn't--didn't know why it was like that, or why it was a problem. But it meant I couldn't--and then somehow all those things about alarm systems and finding a fence stuck in my head from my silly part time high school job."

Their loss then. Her hair was perfect if you asked him. Not that, as they knew, she needed it to be beautiful, of course.

Did she want to visit there today? Just a bit more nostalgia wouldn't hurt.

"I doubt it's still in business, but we could walk by. On the way to this 'mixer,' perhaps?"

That got her another kiss before Blackagar straightened up, reaching for her hand. A walk wouldn't be a bother, would it?

Medusa considered suggesting they make out some more while no one was going to burst in on them with official business that needed to be urgently handled, but then she remembered they weren't teenagers any more, smiled, and took his hand. "A walk sounds very nice."
