CULTIVATION AND GARDENING

Last week, if you remember, a few of us planted our Amaryllis bulbs into pots and set them under some manufactured light sources, all this week I've been watering them and seeing them come to life.

After you planted your bulbs, what was your first thought of how they'd turn out? Do you expect them to grow wild and die within the week, or do you expect them to live and grow through out the season, blooming fully in the Spring time.

Paige looks at her pot ((which in theory has nothing in it, since the mun didn't chose a bulb))

She sighs "nope nothing there, I probably put it in the wrong way round."

"I'll help you fix that, Paige." he rolls up his sleeves and stuffs his hands into her pot, he gently turned the bulb the right way up. "It'll sprout within the day." he assured her, looking at her annoyed state.

Paige laughs "Wow I really didn't think I was that stupid but apparently so! Thanks sir"

He chuckles, "You're not stupid, bulbs are hard to plant when you have things on your mind." he looks concerned. Annoyed students make for a tense teaching environment.

She smiles a little "yeah well I've certainly got things on my mind, I'll try to ignore them during class though."

She sighs heavily god I miss him

"It's alright", he pats her hands, "Now, what do you expect of this little bulb of yours now?"

Paige gives him an odd look wondering if he's always like this or is patronising her.

"Erm I expect it to grow I guess, beyond that, not much."

Justin would never patronize a young girl, not him. "Well, that's pretty simple but what do you look forward to? When it's bloomed, do you want to give it away as a present or keep it yourself?"

Paige bites her lip, "I-I might give it someone, to remind them of me, although they might not want that, but yeah...."

She looks away for a moment

"And I guess I'm looking forward to seeing how red they come out, I was tempted by one of the white ones, but the color of these just sort of drew me in."

"Amaryllis is a really a beautiful flower to give to someone, it lasts all winter and blooms wide in Spring. It's low matience and lovely in general." he smiles, "Now, who would not want such a lovely flower from a lovely girl?" he says in an attempt to cheer her up.

Paige's eyes tear up and she looks down at her pot, "I was thinking of sending it my boyfriend, Geoff Chaucer, only we're on a break right now, but I'd like him to know I'm still thinking of him."

"Ah, well, I wish I could still give my wife a beautiful flower. Atleast he's lucky enough to have you still thinking about him.." he pats her shoulder and fills a few more pots with fertilizer before taking hers and putting it into the greenhouse.

"Thank you sir, I don't think I'll ever stop thinking about him."
