Getting Out of Tight Situations- Period 5- Class #9

Today class was going to look a little different. Blame the teacher's brain having very good reason to think back to stories she'd heard growing up. There weren't any big scary monsters around at the moment, as that gate was safely closed, but that would change.

"Welcome to a rancor pit," Jaina greeted them. "For those of you who don't know what a rancor is, you're going to find out in a minute. I'll also add the disclaimer that despite what you're going to see in here, I have a friend who insists they're just fine, and people ride them on one of her homeplanets. You tend not to find those particular rancors in places like this, though. You're going to face off against it one at a time, and you're able to use whatever you can find, whatever you have on you, or any powers you think you can use safely here. You have to either defeat it or get away, and if the rancor's going to win, the simulation will end and that'll be the end of your turn. Good luck."

"And he took you to a planet of Force witches," she said, amused. "That either says something about our family's idea of a vacation or something about his sense of humor."

"Probably a little bit of both," Ender said, smiling wryly. "Have you ever been there?"

"No," she said unless her player was forgetting something. "I've heard a lot about it, though. My dad owned it, and my friend much preferred Dathomir to the planet she was born on, so I've heard a lot of favorable things." Well, she had from Tenel Ka, anyway.

"Well, it was nice, barring the rancor attacks," Ender replied. "Didn't see any of the famous witches, which I guess is just as well."

"You probably lucked out there," she agreed. She didn't know if teenage boys hanging around would be fine, considering Ben's relation to Luke, or if they'd have been captured and married off on vacation. "What did you do while you were then? Aside from rancor attacks?"

"Walked around, hid in some caves," Ender said, easily, "The works. I'm growing more and more acquainted with the reason why your family comes with so many legends."

"Because there's something seriously wrong with us?" Jaina grinned.

"Because you have a real nose for trouble," Ender corrected, with an amused smile of his own. "I abstain from judgement."

"You're not wrong," she admitted. She'd sort of just said that to Tahiri the other day, actually. "It's a talent."
