Rinoa was going to busy herself with research today, as much on time-travel and possession as she could manage to find.

Special Collections might have more interesting fragments, but considering how much magic was in there, she was pretty sure it wasn't safe for her to go in, as she was right now.

Following his conversation with Sookie yesterday, Bobby was in the library researching. When he solved that particular dilemma, he emerged from the shelves to approach Rinoa. "Hi! I'm sorry to bother you. Do you know if the library has stuff on scholarships? Like to college?"

"It's fine," Rinoa said, offering the boy a smile and trying not to let her headache show. It was milder today, which was nice. "I've never gone looking for that, but the library has darn near everything, so I'm sure it's just a matter of doing the right search. Right?"

Excuse the library fangirl. She loved this place.

"Yeah, I think so," he agreed, biting his lip. "I just wasn't sure how to make sure I only find stuff for the right world and year, you know? Cause there are so many different choices here."

"Year is just a matter of checking the copyright date on whatever we end up with," Rinoa said easily. "World, that's harder. Most of these works assume that you're already from where they're writing, and that there aren't any alternatives. I guess looking for place names is a good start."

She was leading him through the shelves, looking for college-related material.

"Where and when are you from?"

"Hart, Missouri," Bobby replied, following her instantly. "And it's 2006 at home, but it's not for me, it's for Jack."

Obviously Rinoa should instantly know who Bobby was talking about.

"Maybe that's where we start," Rinoa said. "Hart, Missouri. Lots of places offer local scholarships."

This might be a good time to head to the computers, instead, so she stood abruptly and changed direction.

"What kind of scholarship are we looking at?" she asked. "Merit? Need-based? Do you know what kind of school Jack wants to go to?"

Rinoa didn't know Jack, to be honest. But she had assumed that he was a friend of Bobby's who was being stubborn about the matter, and that Bobby was taking matters into his own hands.

Because, well, that's what she would have done.

"Somewhere far away from Hart," Bobby said, a little dejectedly as he followed. "But he was probably going to get a track scholarship, but then he got hurt so now he's trying to figure out something else? He's really smart."

"I'm sorry he got hurt," she said, sympathetically. "If he's smart, that means we can look for those kind of scholarships first off. And do you ... know how much money his family has?"

That sounded tactless, so she backed up. "If his parents aren't very well off, we can look for money in other places."

Conversely, if you were the spoiled teenage daughter of a very rich man in Galbadia, good luck getting help unless you could prove you'd run away from home. Thankfully, she had still had her bank accounts.

"I don't know," he considered, totally missing any tactless sounding comments. "I mean, Mom sent us here, right? But I don't think she can afford to pay for college. She's a professor."

"What school does she teach at?" Rinoa asked. "Sometimes, schools give scholarships to professors' kids, but I guess that doesn't help if he wants to be away from home."

She took a moment to do the mental math. "So Jack's your brother?"

"I think Jack would join the army or something before he went to ~~gdi canon why couldn't you name the stupid university?~~. And then Mom would really kill him," Bobby informed her. He gave her a big grin. "Yeah! He's older though. Um. Obviously."

"I'd hope so," she laughed. "If he was younger, I'd say you were maybe getting a little ahead of yourself."

She sat down at the computer console and frowned. "I'm going to need you to spell 'Missouri,'" she said.

"No, he's a junior this year. I'm a freshman," Bobby informed her. "I'm Bobby McCallister. Are you from another world? Missouri is way easier than Mississippi. But Mississippi is the only thing that has four i's and cn't see."

"I'm a junior, too," she mused. "I wonder if we have any of the same classes."

She pulled up a browser and went to a search engine.

"Rinoa Heartilly," she said, pausing in her typing long enough to offer him a hand. "I grew up in Deling City, in the country of Galbadia. Both of which no body here has heard of. A four-eyed monster wouldn't be able to see, if you cast 'Blind' on it."

"Most girls know him," Bobby said. It was just a fact of life, yes. "Do you really have four-eyed monsters in Galbadia?"

So he was hunky. Which narrowed it down some, although not as much as it should, considering the plentiful eye candy of Fandom.

"I think he's in my Ethics class," Rinoa said. "Floppy hair, kind of tall?"

She was a sucker for floppy hair.

Bobby snickered a little. "I don't know. It's kinda weird to think of another guy's hair as floppy, you know? But he's in Ethics so you're probably right. He kinda looks like me only like a grown up and good-looking."

Bobby was now getting a big sisterly sort of Look.

"Don't say things like that," she said. "Because it makes it sound like you don't think you're good-looking."

"But I'm not," Bobby said frowning a little. "I mean, not like Jack. It doesn't really matter though."

"And when you grow up, I'm sure you'll be every bit as handsome," she laughed.

Bobby should duck if he didn't want his hair mussed by a Sorceress.

He made a face at the ruffling but didn't pull away because why would he pull away from a pretty girl touching him?

"Maybe," he acknowledged, wrinkling his nose at her. After all Percy and Jason were kind of awesome.

"Well, then." Rinoa clapped her hands in front of her. "You were going to spell Missouri for me. And I can't think of any four-eyed monsters in Galbadia, offhand. Hexadragons have six, but they're on the wrong continent."

"Hexdragons would have six," Bobby agreed. "Are there quaddragons? They should have four, right?" He grinned before remembering the spelling request. "M-I-S-S-O-U-R-I"

"No quaddragons," Rinoa said, typing in H-E-A-R-T, M-I-S-S-O-U-R-I and looking at the results that popped up. "Ruby dragons and blue dragons, those are around. But you know, blue ones kind of look more teal to me?"

Google seemed to think that Heart should be Hart. She wasn't one to argue with Google, so she was going to try that, instead.

"I wonder why they delineate between ruby and red but not teal and blue," Bobby pondered, hanging over the back of her chair. "Unless maybe they're ruby cause they have rubies but then wouldn't the blue be sapphire?"

He eyed the screen. "Oh, yeah, sorry, Hart's spelled weird. It's the guy who founded the city, I think."

"There aren't any rubies," she said with a frown. "I'm thinking they were named separately. They're from different continents, and they aren't really the same kind of dragon at all."

For one, blue dragons were easy to fight, and ruby dragons weren't.

"It's half of Squall's last name," she added, absent-mindedly. "Leonhart. I used to assume there was an 'E' in 'hart,' there, but it turns out there isn't."

Naturally, he'd know who Squall was. Just like she'd known Jack.

"Maybe they're not both dragons at all," Bobby pondered. "Maybe people just call them dragons because that's what they remind them of. Like a Gila dragon."

"Leonhart? Like Lionheart? That's so cool. I mean, it's hard to like Richard Lionheart, but still the name and the idea is cool. I don't think I know Squall though."

Henry was typing up new cards for the card catalogue.

Of course it wasn't necessary -- everyone used the computerized catalogue anyhow -- but once in a while, you liked to go old-school.
