Extreme Physical Education | Wednesday | Period 1
Fraser was standing at the front of the Danger Shop again, holding what appeared to be a sled of some kind. There was a table of equipment off to the side, waiting for the students.
"Good morning," he greeted, holding up the luge. "Today, we're going to be taking on the gravity defying sport of street luge. Street luge is simple but it's very, very dangerous if done wrong and if we take on too much at once. If you know the sport of winter luge, you'll realize that this sport has very little in common besides the sled -- "
He pointed at the luge he was holding.
" -- and the fact that high speeds can be achieved. It's a dangerous sport but if done right, it's safe and it's exhilarating."
Fraser then went on to explain the basics of street luge including how to handle the board and the various pieces of safety equipment (helmet, pads, proper shoes, proper suits) that had to be worn before they got going.
"Today, I want you all to do this classic style," he said, laying flat on his back to demonstrate this classic style. "No head first. We're not ready for that yet. Everyone ready? All right, let's go."
Fraser got the simulation going, revealing several paved hilly roads for the students to practice their luge skills on.
