This week, the students and any kids they brought with them would find themselves on a playground, complete with a slide, swingset, jungle gym, and all that fun stuff. This might have had something to do with the fact that beside Jaina was Chak, who for the record was kind of dying to get to playing. "Hi, everyone," she greeted them. "Happy to see some younger faces that I'm not used to. I-"

"Hey, can I do this part?" Chak asked.

While Jaina wasn't sure what he was going to say, she was sure it wasn't going to be anything bad. "The floor's yours."

Smiling a little at suddenly feeling in charge, he began, "Hi, my name's Chak, and this is my mom. This class is all about getting out of bad situations, like when someone won't share, or you get caught trying to sneak out... Not that I ever did that." Liar. "Or when you have a class planned but Fandom has bad timing. And sometimes getting out of bad situations means saying bad words and ditching the old idea and letting us play."

"You had to tell them that part, huh?" Jaina asked, looking down at him.

"Well, you did!"

"Just don't repeat it," she said. "The kid's right, though. Take the hour to go play, and if you don't have kids here to worry about... Push someone on the swings or something."

"Way before my time," he nodded. "I like all the different ships you can try. Dad likes the clawcraft, and I like it, but sometimes you need something new."

Because he was so bored with spaceships at eight.

"If you already have your own Stealth-X, I'm going to cry over there on the slides," Ben warned him.

"I don't get a StealthX, I'm not a Jedi," Chak assured him. "No crying needed."

"I've been a Jedi Knight for almost two years and still no StealthX," Ben complained.

To a child.

Nicely played, Ben.

"You're still young," Chak said consolingly. "Mom says she didn't get an X-Wing till she was sixteen and that's only 'cause it was military issue." He had maybe needed it explained to him why he didn't have a ship, too.

"I'm sixteen now," Ben said. "Maybe I'll get one the next time I'm home."

Keep dreaming, Ben.

"Maybe!" Look at him even crossing his fingers for good luck.

"So your mom's happy?" Ben checked, asking what he felt to be the only really important question.

"Yeah," he said. "Sometimes she gets sad, but she says she's still doing important things, it's just different now, and that's okay."

"How's it different?" Ben asked, feeling his heart sink.

"She doesn't get to do a lot of missions," he shrugged. "But she goes sometimes anyway because she says if she doesn't she'd go crazy."

"Kind of like here," Ben said with a tiny smile.

"Maybe?" He shrugged. "She didn't tell me much about here."

Because she was alternately trying to find out about him and his brother, and quizzing him for more details.

"So your mom is from a different timeline?" Ben replied.

One closer to his own, which was its own set of worries.

"I don't know," he said slowly. "I don't think so. We come back sometimes to see people but we don't hear a lot of stories. Just that things attack a lot."

"And gremlin bite warnings?" Ben added.

He paused.

"How does Granddad deal with your Dad?"

"I never see gremlins. I think maybe Mom threatened them away." He had no idea, but it made sense to him.

"And he's grumpy," Chak said. "Granddad, not Dad. Dad's nice about it, 'cause if he's not Mom rolls her eyes a lot and then they have all have to have a Talk."

"And no one wants to have a Talk with Granddad," Ben said, nodding. "Because he turns into a giant baby."

"Really?" he asked, totally interested.

"Not literally," Ben added because around here, you had to be specific, "but he can be fairly unreasonable when it suits him."

"Like a politician," he guessed.

Ben snickered. "Never tell him that, but exactly like a politician."

"Huh. I'm gonna have to remember that." Fear, Anakin... eighteen years or so in the future.
