Library, Saturday
The previous night had been very nice. Very, very nice. But now there was something wrong with today.
Some odd little feeling like he'd missed something terribly important.
But that wasn't important now. There were books to shelve.

Re: Talk at Blackagar
Re: Talk at Blackagar
...oh, no. What if the Council got wind of this?
Re: Talk at Blackagar
Someone hadn't been taught to read his father's body language, after all.
Re: Talk at Blackagar
Re: Talk at Blackagar
ISOLATION. IT WAS A TRADITION.
Re: Talk at Blackagar
But that wasn't aimed at the child.
He looked a bit like Maximus, did he not?
Re: Talk at Blackagar
"No, he's just surprised!" Medusalith assured Ahura. Even if it was kind of a lie. Her hair twitched a bit.
"Well, it makes sense, doesn't it?" Medusalith asked. "He has three-quarters of the same genes as Maximus." And then there was the creepy factor, but mothers never saw that. Perhaps a different haircut would help.
Re: Talk at Blackagar
A lot.
Re: Talk at Blackagar
Blackagar nodded slowly at him, reaching out to pat the boy on the head. Perhaps Lockjaw could assist in nannying?
Re: Talk at Blackagar
There, see? Much less creepy already."Maximus?" Medusalith asked. "Is he very busy? Or, I probably shouldn't ask these things, should I? The future is not for us to know, I suppose." Except for when it came knocking on her door, apparently."Yes, do you like Lockjaw?" she asked. Silly question, but she had to check.
Re: Talk at Blackagar
Re: Talk at Blackagar
Blackagar shot her a look and nodded. Lockjaw would do well to keep the boy from harm should they be unable to protect him.
Re: Talk at Blackagar
Oh, look, they were already engaging in the fine tradition of talking over their child's head.
Re: Talk at Blackagar
Blackagar gave the boy another pat before taking a step back. There were children's books here. He could read quietly until the library closed if he wished.
Re: Talk at Blackagar
It didn't occur to her that he might not have understood.
Re: Talk at Blackagar
"Like what, mother?"
Re: Talk at Blackagar
Re: Talk at Blackagar
It was best to ask now, after all.
Re: Talk at Blackagar
Re: Talk at Blackagar
And Blackagar was oddly protective of what might one day be his son.
Re: Talk at Blackagar
Re: Talk at Blackagar
"I understand, mother," Ahura replied, slowly letting go of her hair.
Re: Talk at Blackagar
...could they keep him?
Re: Talk at Blackagar
The council must have approved then. In the future.

Re: Talk at Blackagar
Reaching out for her arm, he twined his fingers through her hair. Their future looked a bit better.
