Investigation Club Meeting, After classes, On the roof of the Trooper Station

"You all made it without getting arrested. Congratulations," Bruce said. They were standing on the roof of the Trooper Station, after all. Depending on how they got up here, it was possible that they had either committed a crime or annoyed Sam Vimes, which was nearly the same thing. "If you want, you can consider this group to be a think tank intent on looking into some of Fandom's more notable quirks. I also intend to have us do some more mundane investigations including, if the opportunity arises, some crime scene visits courtesy of our club sponsor, Sherlock Holmes. You may know him from class or by reputation. Either way, you know what you're in for if we do get to visit a crime scene."

"Let's keep it relatively light for this week. I have some specific ideas in mind for what I want this group to do before the end of the semester. I want some input into what you might want to do or experience," Bruce said. "Whether that's a specific mystery you want to look into, or just a general focus you want the club to take, speak up."

[OOC: Sorry for lameness. I'm still barely conscious.]

Ariel was mostly just here because investigating was kind of like exploring, and she'd had so much fun with it in class that a club for it sounded extra fun.

"I'm really looking forward to investigating anything," she shared. "I mean, not knowing what you're getting into is part of the fun, right?"

And that begrudging admission was one of the most gratifying things Ariel could have heard. Her grin grew just a little wider.

"He says," she said, "as if hard work and digging for answers couldn't be fun, either."

Ariel grinned as she took a glance around to the group collected on the rooftop.

"And, by the looks of it so far," she noted, "it could really go either way."

Clearly, she had to make sure to form a particularly strong presence with Momoko and the Hankinator.

"William Murdoch," he introduced himself. "I'm interested in learning about modern investigative techniques, especially forensics."

"I'd like to investigate... MYSTERIES!!!"

Hank was so very specific like that.

"You know, mysteries," Hank said. "Unexplained things, like ghosts and supervillains and stuff!"

Hank snorted. "Not hardly! Besides, they're usually just some dumb guy in a rubber mask, anyway."

Momoko raised hand, smiling. "Momoko Akatsutsumi, senior. I'm a Hero of Justice, so I am used to investigating all kinds of things. I've taken a lot of classes about investigation, forensics, and law."
heromaniac: (V for victory)

She will not change it to Vengeance just to please you, Bruce.

"Of course!" Momoko nodded and gave him a thumbs up. "I want to be the best! If I'm not, then I can't help and protect people who need me."

[ooc: Ad for Dark Knight was just on as I typed 'Vengeance'!! Eerie!]

Momoko grimaced. "Not really? Mostly I'm better in the actual field. I need to work on that, but I don't have a way to."

Plus she was barely average at science.

"Dana Scully, sophomore, and... I want to be an FBI agent. But I'm up for investigating anything. The history of the island, how magic works, some of the stranger biology." She shrugged, then smiled. "And I've been into Special Collections, and I'd go in again, but not alone."

"Now we just need to establish procedures without becoming bureaucrats," Scully teased lightly. "Or reports. Well. Those are useful. But not the main point, after all."

Especially since she always ended up editing Mulder's for sanity.

"Good point," Scully said, then added dryly, "Especially if it would hold you hostage too long to get the answers back. I would love to know why some people are immune to the craziness at different times."
