"You all made it without getting arrested. Congratulations," Bruce said. They were standing on the roof of the Trooper Station, after all. Depending on how they got up here, it was possible that they had either committed a crime or annoyed Sam Vimes, which was nearly the same thing. "If you want, you can consider this group to be a think tank intent on looking into some of Fandom's more notable quirks. I also intend to have us do some more mundane investigations including, if the opportunity arises, some crime scene visits courtesy of our club sponsor, Sherlock Holmes. You may know him from class or by reputation. Either way, you know what you're in for if we do get to visit a crime scene."

"Let's keep it relatively light for this week. I have some specific ideas in mind for what I want this group to do before the end of the semester. I want some input into what you might want to do or experience," Bruce said. "Whether that's a specific mystery you want to look into, or just a general focus you want the club to take, speak up."

"Well, I hope you enjoy what I set up," Bruce said. "even if I focus more on the work than fun."

"Oh, I know I will," Ariel assured him. "It's investigations! How could I not enjoy it?"

"Fair point," Bruce said. "In that case, I'm confidant I won't disappoint."

"You usually don't," Ariel said with a grin. "So, can I convince you to give me a hint about what I have to look forward to?"

"If Holmes can swing it, at least one dead body," Bruce said. "Other than that, some labwork, some research, and hopefully at least one bizarre bit of Fandom weirdness to study."

"Eeewwwwwwww!" Ariel said, although she really didn't seem that grossed out by the idea of a dead body; she had taken Mr. Holmes' last class, too, after all. "But that does sound like it could be fun! It's not singing and dancing, but I can't do that all the time."

"Just to make it clear, there will be no singing and dancing in this club," Bruce said.

"Oh, sure, you say that now," Ariel pointed out with a grin. "Better hope that whatever Fandom weirdness we investigate isn't gremlins..."

"There will be no singing or dancing in this club," Bruce repeated.

"All I'm saying," Ariel said, in what sounded suspiciously like a sing-song voice, "is don't count your turtles before they hatch, Bruce."

"I make educated estimates before they hatch," Bruce said. "And they're usually accurate."

"You know, the margin of error doesn't hurt so much if you go ahead and give it some room."

"What can I say, I'm confident," Bruce mused.

"We shall see, Bruce Wayne," Ariel said, dancing her fingers together in an impression of an evil villain that would have worked much better if she wasn't...you know...Ariel. "We shall see."

She let her eyes dart speculatively toward Momoko and Hank, but, of course, she wouldn't do anything, because he'd asked so nicely.
