Advanced Driver's Ed, Monday Period Two

The quadbikes were once again in evidence this week, along with the safety gear. The flat field had been replaced with sparse woods, and dirt trails going through hillocks.

"As you can see, today's class involves slightly more challenging terrain," Bond said. "It should also test your ability to multitask, and ability to react under pressure, since in addition to your vehicles each of you will also have one of these. Though they only fire the Danger Shop's equivalent of paintballs. Mainly because rather than some holographic foe, you'll be facing your classmates."

Bond checked his watch. "You have five minutes to change into your gear and scatter before you'll be able to start firing. Use your time wisely."

Bod wasn't looking forward to this one. For one, he wasn't much for weapons and for two, carrying a weapon while trying to control a quadbike just seemed like a little too much for his occasional clumsiness. He hoped he didn't eat dirt.

"Oh, SWEET!!!!" Hank bounced with excitement. "Motorbikes and GUNS! It's like Christmas crossed with my birthday!!! In Brisbyland!!!"

Guns were so not in Nico skillset, but he thought attacking people with paintballs should be easy enough, uh, ignoring the driving part at the same time.

At least he still looked awesome in the gear.

After taking some time to get acclimated to the weapon, Bod hopped on his quadbike and got himself going, keeps alert for anyone that might hit him with a paintball.

The package of uncontrolled chaos that was Hank managed to -- mostly by accident -- send some paintballs in Bod's direction. "Sorry!!!"

Bod managed to duck but that threw his bike a little off balance which meant he was off the trail and into the clumpy dirt. That definitely slowed him down but now he had to get back up to speed. If he sent a paintball back towards Hank, well, it was the activity.

"OW! Hey, quit it!!!" Hank turned to look where the paintball had come from, which turned his handlebars, which meant he stopped careening around he field and got stuck in a tight little circle.

Another paintball headed in Bod's direction, this time more or less on purpose.

The problem with Hank and machine guns was that, regardless of how much arm strength he did or didn't have, it was too amusing to the writers for the gun to kick like mad and start spraying bullets randomly.

Even more so when he only held the weapon with one hand while using the other hand to steer.

Add to that the fact that he was swerving like mad because he only had one hand on the handlebars, and Hank was one dangerous x-factor on the field. At least, until he ran out of gun food.
