Myths and Legends of the Deep {Thursday, Period 2}

Once all of her students were settled in, Summer began her lecture. A picture was displayed on the board behind her.

"The Bermuda Triangle, which is also referred to as the Devil's Triangle, is an area in the Atlantic Ocean that is known for causing numerous aircraft and sea vessels to mysteriously disappear. As you can see from the image behind me, the Bermuda Triangle covers the Straits of Florida, the Bahamas and part of Puerto Rico. According to reports, most of the mysterious disappearances seemed to happen around Florida and the Bahamas."

"In 1945 Flight 19, a training flight of bombers mysteriously went down over the area. Over 1,700 vessels have been reported missing in the Triangle. In addition, hurricanes and tropical storms occur with alarming frequency." Summer paused, letting that sink in (no pun intended!) before continuing with her lecture.

"There are those who believe that the Bermuda Triangle happens because of supernatural connections and others believe the disappearances are caused by natural occurrences," she explained, citing some examples for each explanation.

"What do you think? Many people have given reasons as to how some of the incidents in the Bermuda Triangle happened and disputed that there was any mystery to begin with. I'd like to know what you all think. Is the Bermuda Triangle something more than just a natural occurring phenomenon as some believe it to be?"

Summer wasn't sure what to believe. It was easier to go by a case to case basis, then try to figure something out that's been in existing for longer than she's been alive.

Percy managed to pay attention to most of the lecture but notes just weren't going to happen. He wondered what his dad thought of the Bermuda Triangle stuff, all things considered.

He guessed he could sail through it just fine.

Luke had another sleepless night and dealing with an early morning class was almost too much for him to handle. He propped his head up on his arm and looked out the window, completely oblivious to anything going on in class.

He was sort of tempted to put his head on the desk and fall asleep, but figured his snoring would probably get some attention.

Jason wasn't writing down any notes, but he was kind of intrigued by the Bermuda Triangle. He wondered if Percy had the power to send anyone there if he didn't like them.

Was there a lecture? Nico was a bit busy leaning his face against his hand and trying not to nap. With Luke beating him to a pulp on a daily basis and spending his nights lying in bed wondering exactly where this new sense of training urgency stemmed from, Nico was dragging.
