Chloe sits in the Journalism room, her video camera in one hand, and a cup of coffee in the other. She tilts back in her chair, reviewing what's on the video tape as she waits for everyone else to arrive.

With a deadline looming and a busy weekend ahead of him, Angelus stopped by to work on his article.

Wanting and doing were two separate things, however. He looked like someone scribbling away in a notebook. He was dicking around on more sketches.

On the plus side, he did bring coffee.

Chloe gives Angelus a nod, pleased to see him working. "Hey. How's it going?"

"I am doing fabulously," Angelus said. Sure enough, he looked to be in an almost disgustingly chipper mood. "You?"

"I'm doing all right, although not as good as you sound," Chloe replies.

"Chloe, if I was any happier I'd lose my soul," Angelus said. Then he belatedly remembered where he was and who he was talking to. "Uh - which is a figure of speech where I come from."

"Funny figure of speech," Angela mutters to her notebook.

"We're a colorful people," Angelus said, with only a flicker in his eyes to betray a mild sense of annoyance. "But I'd guess you know that, with your hobbies."

"I have, like, no idea what you mean," Angela says, as innocently as she can manage.

Which is not very. She reminds herself *why* she's been avoiding Angelus and turns back to Rory with a guilty look on her face.

Beka eyed the coffee as she entered the classroom, then decided coffee was probably the last thing she needed.

"Fuck it," she growled to no one in particular. "That free for the taking, Angelus?"

Angelus looked surprised at her mood, but obligingly pushed the cup forward. "Go ahead. What's up?"

"Nothing." She cradled the coffee in both hands, then shrugged. "Stress. Nothing worth spoiling a friend's good mood over."

"Schoolwork getting you down?" he guessed.

"Not so much. It's going fine." She sipped the coffee, trying for normalcy, but there was nothing fluid or natural in her movements. Suppressed emotion made her tense and shaky. "Caught in the middle of a bad situation."

Angelus looked interested. "Anything I can do to help?"

"Maybe. Busy later?" She tilts her head gently, showing off throat, but her expression is more wary than playful. Not coming on to you. Much.

"Maybe," he replied, coyly, with his eyes very firmly on her neck. "Depends."

"Oh? And if I said I needed to talk, but I might be willing to play pay pay for your time?" Her tone hasn't quite lost it's edge, but she makes a show of tipping her chin up a little higher.

"I would certainly be willing to listen," Angelus promised. "I'm told I'm very good with... listening."

"You're very good with many things, Angelus." Her chin comes down and her expression and tone are sincere. "As it happens, I may need your help."
