Myths and Legends of the Deep {Thursday, Period 2}

"Welcome to Myths and Legends of the Deep," Summer began, as soon as the last student settled in. "For those of you that don't know me, I'm Summer Pitt. You can call me Summer or Miss Pitt, if you prefer."

Summer passed out the syllabus before continuing. "Throughout this course, we will cover myths and legends pertaining to the ocean. Today, we're going to take it easy and just start with introductions. I'd like your name, grade and what myth you'd like to cover the most. It can be anything you can think of and it doesn't have to be on the syllabus," she explained.

"I also know that we all come from different worlds, so some of these might actually exist where you come from. So, please, let me know if that's the case and I'll gladly change to a new topic if you want me to."

Summer didn't want to make her students uncomfortable, after all.

"Next week, we'll be meeting in the Danger Shop." I'm also looking for one or two TAs, if anyone's interested."

[OCD is up. Have at it!]

"I'm Percy Jackson and I'm a sophomore," he started, hoping his voice didn't sound like he had a headache. "As for myths, I'm easy. I know a lot about Greek myths though so maybe something besides that."

"I'm Luke Castellan and I'm a sophomore." He didn't appreciate the reminder that he was probably the only 19 year old sophomore in existence. "And, um, I guess the Bermuda Triangle seems kind of cool I wouldn't mind learning about that."

He just didn't want to get in the water, okay?

"I'm Leda, a senior, and uh, I guess the myth of Atlantis sounds cool." It actually sounded the least scary to her which was why she picked it. Though still, the thought of being stuck in a city while it sank beneath the waves? Nightmare fuel.

Oh shit, was he supposed to talk? "Another sophomore, Nico di Angelo," he said, not having heard the instruction but winging it based on what those before him had said. "I...agree Percy is easy, and I know a ton about mythology, just not much about boats." Other than certain cruise ships.

Luke tried to pass off his laugh at Nico's answer as a cough but it didn't work out too well. Oh well, he'd take the glare for it.

"I'm Jason Todd, and I'm a sophomore. I don't really have a preference for myths," he said, avoiding the word "easy" unlike some morons. "The Greek ones, uh, fascinate me the most." Gee, wonder why? "But mythology in general is cool."

"George Lass," she said. "Senior. I wanna hear about those weird ghost ships. Everyone's gone, no one's on it, but it's still drifting through the night?"

Sorry. She'd been morbid even when she was alive.
