Fandom High Welcome Picnic, Front Lawn of the School, All Day: Part II

In order to give people a place to get away from the traffic jam of the buffet and information tables, most of the chairs and tables had been set up further out on the lawn, away from the school building. The bonfires were going strong, and there was plenty of room for everyone to sit down and enjoy themselves. Assuming they weren't too busy still trying to figure this place out.

[OCD is up! This is the FIRST post for general mingling. Please use this post first, if your browser can handle the comment load. Roommates, fake siblings and teachers are all here and there's more room for mingling here. Since it's outside, the picnic is open to all students, teachers, and townies!]

"Just another one of the duties a superhero has, I suppose," Bruce said. "Do you make public appearances at festivals or whatever as well? That's a serious question, not sarcastic or anything."
heromaniac: (Momoko is grinning up at you)

"Oh, totally!" She rattled off on her fingers. "Festivals, parties with important people, bodyguard duty for high-profile tourists. Even guest appearances on tv and commercials. If the Mayor is down in the polls we're practically on-call. We work for the Mayor's office, you see."

"So it actually is a job. You're not just a vigilante, working on your own," Bruce said. "How did you become affiliated with the Mayor? Did the office approach you, or did you volunteer for it?"
heromaniac: (team)

"It really is a job! I get paid and everything!" Vigilantes wouldn't be tolerated in Tokyo City. "When we got our powers, the Mayor helped the Professor track us down and then offered us the job of protecting the city. We totally didn't know it would be so much other stuff, though."

She rolled her eyes. "We only fight the monsters, so I guess he thinks we have a lot of free time and owe him, or something." She was fond of the Mayor, but not the politics.

"Is it just monsters, or do you fight regular criminals, too?" Bruce asked. "And sorry about all the questions. I'm just a curious person."
heromaniac: (laugh desk friends talk)

"Nnn! I can answer these questions!" She grinned at him. "We only fight monsters back home. Regular criminals are taken care of by the police. I know that's weird on some worlds, so I'm trying to learn how to fight humans, too. It's totally different! You can't just throw them into buildings or drop them from high places. They break!" Stupid real-world physics.

"Remind me not to get into a fight with you until you get better at not breaking people," Bruce joked.

Although this did help him formulate a solution to how he could fight someone like, say, Clark if a mind-altering fog caused him to attack again: befriend other people who were apparently massively strong. It was a simple solution, and one Bruce couldn't believe he didn't think of before.
heromaniac: (eh-heh nudge)

"I'm much better now!" Momoko laughed. "Although I usually only fight the criminals across the causeway in Baltimore and not anyone who actually knows how to fight." When she's not in New Gotham, that is. "Except for Dinah and Azula, I mean. But they're trying to teach me so it totally doesn't count."

Dinah. Well, that confirmed his earlier suspicions.

"Of course. Training is how you learn, so it's completely different," Bruce said, giving a confirming smile. "If you were just picking fights with people around town, that's where it's an issue."
heromaniac: (smile innocent)

She tsked at him. "I don't pick fights. That's totally not something a Hero of Justice does."

"I'm glad to hear that," Bruce said. "But you definitely don't seem like a random bully anyway, so it never seriously crossed my mind."
heromaniac: (yes but)

[personal profile] heromaniac 2011-01-04 04:15 am (UTC)(link)
"I was! One weekend when we turned into other people, I was totally a bully! I even punched a friend of mine because I thought he'd stolen my motorcycle."

Re: General Mingling [Spring 2011]

[identity profile] willbethenight.livejournal.com 2011-01-04 04:18 am (UTC)(link)
"Do you have a motorcycle? Or was it just the person you turned into who had one?" Bruce asked.
heromaniac: (piloting)

Re: General Mingling [Spring 2011]

[personal profile] heromaniac 2011-01-04 04:29 am (UTC)(link)
She grimaced and waved a hand. "Neither. Tomoko thought she had one, but it didn't exist. It was a totally weird weekend. I ended up being three people at the same time." And yet, she still loved this island.

"I'm used to using trains and walking, back home, so I don't need a car or motorcycle or anything. Plus I can fly when I'm transformed. And I can pilot pretty much anything."

[identity profile] willbethenight.livejournal.com 2011-01-04 04:31 am (UTC)(link)
"Really? Is that a random side effect of your powers, or did you just learn how to fly vehicles at an early age?" Bruce asked.
heromaniac: (Momoko likes toys)

Re: General Mingling [Spring 2011]

[personal profile] heromaniac 2011-01-04 04:54 am (UTC)(link)
She laughed. "I think it's because I'm a quick learner when it's something I like. I've always been totally into mecha, reading and watching anything I could find. And once you pilot one, the rest are super easy to learn."

[identity profile] willbethenight.livejournal.com 2011-01-04 04:58 am (UTC)(link)
"I've taken a flight class here in Fandom, but I haven't had much opportunity to keep in practice," Bruce said. "I'm at least fairly certain I wouldn't crash right away, though."
heromaniac: (smile hello)

Re: General Mingling [Spring 2011]

[personal profile] heromaniac 2011-01-04 05:44 am (UTC)(link)
Momoko nodded. "I know, right? We had a flight club up until this last semester and we got to use simulators to fly all types of machines from space ships to blimps to hover cars! It was awesome! I should totally bug Professor Skywalker about starting that again or maybe just letting us use them."

Re: General Mingling [Spring 2011]

[identity profile] willbethenight.livejournal.com 2011-01-04 05:56 am (UTC)(link)
"If you do, let me know. I could probably use a club like that," Bruce said.
heromaniac: (yay chattering)

Re: General Mingling [Spring 2011]

[personal profile] heromaniac 2011-01-04 06:17 am (UTC)(link)
"I will! And even if there isn't a club, I'll keep you in mind when I find something that can fly. Other than myself, of course." She winked, grinning. "And you have to keep me in mind if you fight any more giant robots! Or giant monsters. Or even little monsters, too. Ah! Here's my number!"

She dug into her pockets and found a scrap of paper to scribble on and a pencil, considered giving him the Robin-phone number, but decided against it and gave her personal one.

Bruce reached into his pocked and grabbed a card with his name and number on it. Yes, he was a 16 year old with business cards, but no business. "Here's mine, in case you need it for anything. And don't worry, you'll be the first person I call if I need some help with any kind of monsters." If he called anyone. Let's face it, that was an iffy proposition.

heromaniac: (Momoko is grinning up at you)

[personal profile] heromaniac 2011-01-04 07:41 am (UTC)(link)
Momoko took the card (with both hands, as was proper etiquette, don't you know!) and grinned. "I'll totally find out if you don't, you know."

And she'll pounce on him again, next time with a real sad-face.
