Fandom High Welcome Picnic, Front Lawn of the School, All Day: Part II

In order to give people a place to get away from the traffic jam of the buffet and information tables, most of the chairs and tables had been set up further out on the lawn, away from the school building. The bonfires were going strong, and there was plenty of room for everyone to sit down and enjoy themselves. Assuming they weren't too busy still trying to figure this place out.

"I trust your judgment," Triela told her. "If you think I can be talked down, please mention it. It's worked before. But... if I'm too out of control..."

Well, like she said, she trusted Karla's judgment.

"I have other methods and means at my disposal," Karla agreed quietly. "You won't ever be a danger to anyone."

Including herself.

"But this means you have to be honest with me," she added. "Completely, scrupulously honest."

"I'm always honest."

That was a lie. Triela knew it.

So she scowled, then sighed and shook her head. "I'll... try."

Karla leaned in to hug her again. "I know," she said. "And I'll do everything I can to help."

Triela hugged back. "I know. And... thanks. I know I haven't really been around when you needed me lately... So it means a lot." She mostly meant monthly. Triela had been so much better about that when they'd first met...

Karla had needed it so much more, then. Triela had been there at Karla's most vulnerable and Karla would never forget it. Which was just one of the reasons Karla vowed to be there for her now.

"We're friends," Karla reminded gently. "Time isn't going to change that."

"I hope not." And, for just a moment there, something almost like fear slipped into Triela's voice. "I've watched Angelica go through this... some days she doesn't remember any of us."

"I will do everything I can to keep you with me for as long as possible," Karla said, squeezing Triela tightly. "You're in a better position than Angelica was--Hilshire knows about this. PLus, you have all of Fandom at your disposal, as one as very stubborn Black Widow."
