Fandom High Welcome Picnic, Front Lawn of the School, All Day: Part II

In order to give people a place to get away from the traffic jam of the buffet and information tables, most of the chairs and tables had been set up further out on the lawn, away from the school building. The bonfires were going strong, and there was plenty of room for everyone to sit down and enjoy themselves. Assuming they weren't too busy still trying to figure this place out.

"I don't ask you what you talk to her about," Bobby grumbled. At least he didn't today. "I took everything I wanted to keep home just in case. Can I stay in your room tonight?"

"I have a new roommate, so no."

"Really?' Bobby looked around like the roommate would magically appear. "Who is it? Is it a girl? Is Mom going to flip?"

Jack looked smug. "He's a guy, his name's Tony and he's pretty normal."

"Normal like here normal or normal like home-normal?" he asked. These things were different after all.

"Home-normal." Aside from the pacemaker, which would complicate things. "Nice guy. Which means you're on your own with Alex. Work it out."

"I'll have to come by to meet him," Bobby said innocently. "See what he thinks about Mr. Bear."

Hey, if Jack wanted to be mean, Bobby would play that.

Jack's jaw tightened. This used to be so much easier. "Tony's into electronics. Maybe you should stop by, meet him and see if he'll show you his stuff."

Bobby lit up with excitement. "Really? Is he from now or the future? That's so cool. Why do you get the cool roommate?"

"I don't know. He's from New York. No Mr Bear and I'll introduce you properly, deal?"

Bobby grinned up at Jack and offered his hand. "Deal."

Jack took Bobby's hand and shook it, then ruffled his hair. "Go make friends and try not to embarrass me."

He smacked at Jack's hand ineffectively then made a face. "I won't embarrass you here!" he pointed out as he wandered off.
