Fandom High Welcome Picnic, Front Lawn of the School, All Day: Part II

In order to give people a place to get away from the traffic jam of the buffet and information tables, most of the chairs and tables had been set up further out on the lawn, away from the school building. The bonfires were going strong, and there was plenty of room for everyone to sit down and enjoy themselves. Assuming they weren't too busy still trying to figure this place out.

"You would have heard of us if we were in your world," Bruce said. "What kind of things have you designed?"

"Recently? This laser system that can remove soil while leaving the objects in it intact. My dad was big into archeology."

"Does it disintegrate the soil, turning it to a kind of ash? Or is it a matter transporter?" Bruce asked.

"Disintegrate," Tony replied brightly. "Well, really it's vaporizing it since you can't just make something disappear."

"Most people wouldn't have corrected me on that," Bruce said. "You really do have a mind for science."

"I have the record for the most patents for someone my age," Tony replied proudly.

"Something tells me you'll be a good person to know around here, Tony," Bruce said.

Tony snorted in amusement. "What about you? It's not everyday I meet someone also from a technology firm."

Who wasn't in their 30s.

"My father owned several companies. I haven't been very involved in any of them yet, but I'm trying to make sure I know enough that I can successfully run all of them," Bruce said. "And that has come in handy a few times, yes."

"More interested in the business side?"

"I'm not sure what I'm more interested in yet," Bruce said. "My parents died when I was eight, so Wayne Enterprises has really been run by businessmen who don't necessarily want a kid hanging around anywhere important."

"Oh." Tony nodded in understanding. "If you wanted to know about some of the tech, I could help. It's not that hard if you work at it."

"I've done some independent studying on technology already, but I never say no to additional knowledge," Bruce said.

"Cool." Billionaire Orphans 4eva. They just needed bracelets. "Have you been going here long?"

"A year now," Bruce said. "I started last January, so I'm officially a veteran."

"So you get used to all the alternate dimensions then?" God, tell him yes or there would be crying.

"Pretty quickly," Bruce said. He adjusted on his first day, but he was trying to be encouraging and not bragging. "Although I always watch out for people who recognize me at these things."

"Hopefully there won't be anymore people who know me." When he got to Home Ec, he'd learn how that was a pipe dream.

"Good luck with that," Bruce said.

Meanwhile, he had another sidekick that he didn't know somewhere around here....
