Fandom High Welcome Picnic, Front Lawn of the School, All Day: Part II

In order to give people a place to get away from the traffic jam of the buffet and information tables, most of the chairs and tables had been set up further out on the lawn, away from the school building. The bonfires were going strong, and there was plenty of room for everyone to sit down and enjoy themselves. Assuming they weren't too busy still trying to figure this place out.

Lion-o felt that it was too cold to go shirtless today, even if it was tradition. He helped himself to some hot chocolate and found a cozy seat near one of the bonfires.

"Lion-o! Happy New Year! Welcome back! Hi!" Was pretty much the warning he got that Momoko was going to hug him. A bit more awkward than usual because of her bandaged wrist, but still as friendly as ever.

"Thanks," said Lion-o, caught slightly off-guard. Still, he didn't mind getting hugged.

He looked concerned as he caught sight of Momoko's wrist. "You're hurt! What happened?" he asked.

Momoko gave him an extra hug for being so concerned and then let go to hold it out for him to see it wasn't anything serious. "I landed on it. I fell when I was coming into the dorm the other day. It hurts, but Scully says it's okay. How was your break? Did you get to go home?"

"Not really," said Lion-o. "It wasn't really a holiday at home, and Portalocity got me a nice deal on a trip to some other planet. It was really kind of nice. Plenty of different aliens and no one stared at me! How about you? Did you get to do anything exciting?"

Momoko was impressed. "Wow! That sounds awesome! I never thought of doing that! You go to the best new places! Tell me next time and I'll totally go with you!"

She bounced happily. "I went to my friend Rikku's world! She let me help fight some of her monsters; it was AWESOME! That's why I was so mad at this!" She waved her hand. "I spent a week fighting monsters, then came home to sprain my wrist."

Lion-o chuckled. "You didn't get hurt fighting monsters but you get hurt walking into the dorms? At least it ruin your trip," he said. "It sounds like a lot of fun."

"Why do you boys always have to laugh at me when I say I got hurt." She rolled her eyes, good humouredly, and gave him a slight punch on the shoulder. "But yes. I had an awesome time! I almost didn't want to come home."

"Aw, but all good things must come to an end, including the winter break," said Lion-o, smirking even as he rubbed his shoulder. The punch hadn't hurt much, but he thought he would play along.

"Are you taking any good classes this semester?" he asked.

"I don't want good things to end. I graduate this year, remember?" She made a slight face at him, then grinned and counted off on her fingers: "I have the best classes! 'Teamwork', 'What not to do in a fight', 'Science', 'Ethics', and, uhm, oh! 'Fighting with powers'! What about you?"

Lion-o's grin got even wider. "Sounds like a pretty good schedule, but you've got good taste! It looks like we'll have Ethics and Fighting With Powers together," he said.

"YAY!" Momoko cheered. "It's been forever since we've been in the same class! You totally have to sit next to me so if I fall asleep you can poke me and wake me up!"

"Does that mean I have to show up to class on time or will you save me a seat?" asked Lion-o, still smirking.

"If you don't show up on time, I am totally going to tease you about it and no, you'll have to sit aaaaalll the way in the back. By yourself!"

"Better than having to sit in front, right by the teacher so you get called on all the time," said Lion-o, grinning.

"No it's not! I'll totally make sure the teacher knows you're there and want to answer all the questions. So nyah!" She stuck her tongue out at him.

"But I can always catch a nap in back because the teacher can't see," said Lion-o.

He was probably in for a shock if he tried that in Professor Skywalker's class.

A huge shock! Even Momoko wasn't going to try that.

"Ah! You can't nap! Then who'll wake me up when I fall asleep?"

"You'll just have to take that chance," said Lion-o, laughing. "Or maybe you should get some coffee before class."
