Fandom High Welcome Picnic, Front Lawn of the School, All Day: Part II

In order to give people a place to get away from the traffic jam of the buffet and information tables, most of the chairs and tables had been set up further out on the lawn, away from the school building. The bonfires were going strong, and there was plenty of room for everyone to sit down and enjoy themselves. Assuming they weren't too busy still trying to figure this place out.

"I don't think we have to do that," Juliet said. Poor people, ew. "My big sister didn't seem poor at all. She's just not, you know. Known."

"My bro talked about... gods and space ships," Jeremy shared, brow creasing with a mildly confused frown again. "Didn't seem rich, though."

"Mine just talked about New York and ..." Juliet trailed off there, distracted. "Wait, space ships? Was he into astronaut stuff too?"

"No, he said there was a class in them some time back," he clarified. "And that they have... space ships in the junkyard in town?"

This would be where Jeremy was kind of looking to her for confirmation that that was just crazy talk. Or that it wasn't, he'd take either.

"My sister told me her first roommate was an actual from-outer-space alien," Juliet said, with a furrowed brow. "I don't know what to think. Could it all be true?"

"No," Jeremy said with a conviction that wasn't long-lived. "... But mine said something about Greek gods being real in his, uh, world, too."

"... I don't get it," Juliet said. "How can there be more than one world? Greek gods walking around are about five hundred times freakier than twintuition."

She glanced around. "Maybe we're being Punk'd. Is that show still on?"

"I don't think it is," he replied, but looked around anyway. "But... Ashton might be staging a pranking comeback?"

That first name basis came from a random party where they'd talked for two minutes, by the way. About until Jeremy had been nudged in the general direction of Demi's kids instead.

"He might be," Juliet nodded, equally optimistic about her relative importance to the world. "It'd be good for our images if we're good sports."

"Yeah." Well, the whole... previous school thing probably hadn't done much good in that respect. "So, we should just... play along, right?"

"It's the best way to go," Juliet decided. "And we have each other for a sanity check."

"Exactly." And Jeremy honestly did believe that. He reached to drape a hand over her shoulders. "Now, wanna do a tour of this shindig with me?"

Juliet relaxed against his shoulder in a way with no Atreides subtexts whatsoever. "We have to show them how it's done."

Even if it was a little hard to get into a proper party vibe when you were outside in daylight in a hat wit a pompom. But Juliet was brave enough to make the attempt.

"And we're going to," he decided. "Come on, Jules." He led her into the crowd again, so they could make an impression and share their first thoughts on everything.

Fandom beware, the Darling twins had arrived.
