Fandom High Welcome Picnic, Front Lawn of the School, All Day: Part II

In order to give people a place to get away from the traffic jam of the buffet and information tables, most of the chairs and tables had been set up further out on the lawn, away from the school building. The bonfires were going strong, and there was plenty of room for everyone to sit down and enjoy themselves. Assuming they weren't too busy still trying to figure this place out.

"He understands what this means to me, and what it means to you," Raven said, though she was still fretting about it. "He does not want to know when, which I understand as well."

Karla nodded. "That makes sense. I'm thinking about having it off-island--" tomorrow, la "--so we don't have to worry about squirrels, either. Both for our sake and for his."

"That would probably be best," Raven agreed. "There is no need for such a personal thing to be broadcast across the island." And it would be easy for her to teleport back to Fandom and shower Jono with affection so that he would know that her heart still belonged to him.

"After the picnic, we should meet up and talk," Karla said. She didn't want to put a damper on Raven's afternoon by confirming actual logistics with her. But later. "Thank you again, Raven. I can't thank you enough."

"This is as important to me as it is to you," Raven said, nodding. Not in entirely the same ways, though.

"Yes, we can talk later," she continued, giving Karla another hug. "I just wished to let you know that there will be no discomfort between Warren and me."

Karla clung to her just a bit, letting Raven feel her gratitude and friendship. "I'm glad of it," she murmured. "Not just for this, but because I want you both to be friends. You're two of the dearest people to my heart."

"As you and Jono are to mine," Raven said, drinking in those emotions even more so than usual to keep thoughts of her father at bay. Karla had enough on her mind right now with this important night; she wasn't going to add to her troubles. And she would do everything in her power to keep Trigon from disrupting that night; if she felt that her dream might actually come true, if she'd hurt Karla, she'd run far away first.

"He's not at the picnic today, is he?" Karla asked. "I can't feel him in the crowd."

Raven shook her head. "He is not," she said. "He is not fond of crowds of new people, and since Sunday is his shift at the library, I suspect he is there. I was going to go visit him after finding if I have a new roommate."

"Give him a hug for me," Karla said. "And good luck with your potential new roommate. I'll talk to you later."

There was much to discuss, after all.
