Fandom High Welcome Picnic, Front Lawn of the School, All Day: Part II

In order to give people a place to get away from the traffic jam of the buffet and information tables, most of the chairs and tables had been set up further out on the lawn, away from the school building. The bonfires were going strong, and there was plenty of room for everyone to sit down and enjoy themselves. Assuming they weren't too busy still trying to figure this place out.

Warren's head did, in fact, snap up, but not in time to catch the doughnut, so much as lift his cup to protect his face, so that the food bounced harmlessly to the ground again.

"Bobby! Hey!"

Poor doughnut.

"We are going to have to work on your reflexes," Bobby declared solemnly. "That poor doughnut did not deserve that fate." It deserved to be eaten! Eaten!

"Well, there's always the ten second rule," Warren offered. "And it's not so bad if it fell into the snow, right? Snow's clean."

He hoped that snow was clean!

If not... meh. Healing factor.

"Well, at least you're logic's up to par," Bobby smirked. "It's a start."

"I've had a year of having you as a best friend in order to kick my brain into gear in that regard," Warren laughed, stooping down to pick up the doughnut. Really, he could just buy more, but it was the principle of the matter, at this point. "If my logic is broken at this point, then I'm pretty hopeless, don't you think?"

"Well, I wasn't going to be the one to say it..." Bobby teased lightly.

"Hey," Warren protested, dusting his doughnut off before giving it an experimental dunk into his coffee. "If I'm hopeless, at least I'm well-practised at it, I think!"

That had to count for something!

"Oh, you're totally deuce at it," Bobby assured him fondly.

Warren seemed quite appeased with that, taking a bite of the doughnut. Not bad. Not bad.

"That's something to be proud of, then," he decided. "I bet you can't brag about how good you are at being hopeless."

"...Ask Sookie sometime about my attempt at making cookies," was Bobby's only reply to that.

That earned a moment's hesitation, right there.

"You didn't try to make them with Karla, by any chance, did you?"

"I don't think the kitchen would survive that," Bobby snickered. "There's a reason I got banned from the kitchen back- in New York." There was the briefest of hesitations as he almost said 'home', before correcting himself.

Warren caught the hesitation, but didn't mention it. New York was home to him, too. But that didn't mean that he was in any hurry to say it aloud, either.

"Now I'm kind of afraid to ask just how many kitchens you've gone through," he noted, quirking a wry grin at Bobby. "Do you have some kind of running tally?"

"Not as such..." Bobby admitted. "But let's just say if I did there would be multiple entries."

"Then I really owe Sookie for keeping you out of her kitchen over the holidays," Warren laughed, shaking his head. "Is this just a cookie problem, or do you manage to light water on fire when you put it on the boil, too?"

"Somehow," Bobby nodded. "Which... is kind of odd, all things considered."

"No kidding," Warren laughed, shaking his head. "You of all people, Bobby..."

This must be an attention span thing, right?

It was totally an attention span thing. Look, video games were enthralling.

"Well. At least I manage to put out the fire before the kitchen actually burns down."

"Always an important life skill," Warren replied, solemnly. "After all, it's difficult to ruin dinner if you can't even start on it in the kitchen anymore."

"Plus, Sookie would make sad eyes at me," Bobby pointed out. "I am powerless before the sad-eyes."

"I think that's our secret weakness, as guys," Warren replied, shaking his head and laughing a little. "Aren't all superheroes supposed to have those?"
