Fandom High Welcome Picnic, Front Lawn of the School, All Day: Part II

In order to give people a place to get away from the traffic jam of the buffet and information tables, most of the chairs and tables had been set up further out on the lawn, away from the school building. The bonfires were going strong, and there was plenty of room for everyone to sit down and enjoy themselves. Assuming they weren't too busy still trying to figure this place out.

"Anything out of wood?" Ariel asked. Because, if she thought about it, there was a lot of things made out of wood, but it did seem a particularly human building material in her experience, which, of course, made it awesome.

That was a rather odd question. "Wood isn't a good material for everything," Sov replied. "Don't you have trees where you are from?"

Ariel's grin brightened at that; it made it pretty easy that he..he?...that he was able to discern that. She shook her eyes, eyes shining. "Wood is pretty rare, and unless it's good, it's pretty useless where I'm from, anyway."

"Oh." There was a pause. "Where are you from?"

"Oh, it's really far from here," Ariel said, waving a dismissive hand to avoid specifics. "No one's ever heard of it, so it really doesn't matter. It's mostly water, though, and very different."

"Mostly water? My home world is mostly ice." Sov grinned.
