Fandom High Welcome Picnic, Front Lawn of the School, All Day: Part II

In order to give people a place to get away from the traffic jam of the buffet and information tables, most of the chairs and tables had been set up further out on the lawn, away from the school building. The bonfires were going strong, and there was plenty of room for everyone to sit down and enjoy themselves. Assuming they weren't too busy still trying to figure this place out.

"Yeah, Ender mentioned that." Thank god for him. "It's that common here? I mean, no one's freaking out about it."

A beat.

"Other than that weird bus driver who kept laughing at me and asking if I was addicted to rootbeer."

"...which weird bus driver?" Ben asked. "There are generally a couple."

"In the red pajamas."

"Ohhhh," Ben said, nodding. "Yeah, he's weird. Sometimes my grandfather also picks people up, too."

Oh, Tony was going to have a headache upon learning Anakin was his grandpa.

"Are you the friend Ender mentioned with relatives showing up here?"

"Probably," Ben said with a smile. "I'm Ben Skywalker."

"I'd introduce myself, but I think most of the people already know me," Tony replied with a grin. "Nice to meet you for my first time, though."

"So what brings you to Fandom this time?" he asked.

Tony shrugged, forcing himself to keep from rubbing his chest. "My dad wanted me to graduate from high school before I could inherit the company."

Ben smiled. "So you're someone else with a legacy to live up to."

"Yeah. Something like that." Tony shook his head. "So what other weirdness should I prepare myself for."

"What have you heard about, besides the 'other versions of you' thing?" Ben asked.

"Witches," Tony replied. "And people being from the future. Which is still kinda cool if you ask me."

"It is," Ben said, grinning. "Nothing about other planets?"

"...that would be new," Tony admitted slowly. "Like aliens?"

"Like aliens," Ben agreed, "though a lot of us are still pretty human."

[Dear LJ: EATING NOTIFICATIONS IS USELESS TO ME.]

Hey now. Everyone knew aliens were supposed to be green or part bird. Stop messing about, Ben.

"Really?"

[[LJ IS MADE OF FAIL]]

Ben gave him a grin. "Hi, I'm from a galaxy far, far away."

Beat.

"We come in peace."

Ben was under the impression he was funny.

"Should I take you to our leader?" Tony asked, glancing around. "I'm not... actually sure who that is here."

"Nah, those kind of negotiations are over my level," Ben said with a little laugh.

"Do all aliens look just like people from Earth then?" You know, due to low production value.

"Not all of them," Ben said. "At home, we have helium breathers and ones who use methane, ones that look like giant dogs, and some that are kind of squid-like."

And ones that look like teddy bears that tried to eat his father. Endor was weird.

Yeah, that could only end in laughter. Though, really, Tony couldn't judge. His magnum opus was an exo-suit that looked like someone pimped out C3PO with red paint.

"Where is home?"

"A planet called Coruscant," Ben said, "at the center of the galaxy. Well, navigationally, at least. You don't really want to spend time in the Deep Core."

"Which galaxy?" Ah HA! Suck on that, Ben.

...or not. The narrative was possibly in need of food for sense-making.
