Fandom High Welcome Picnic, Front Lawn of the School, All Day: Part II

In order to give people a place to get away from the traffic jam of the buffet and information tables, most of the chairs and tables had been set up further out on the lawn, away from the school building. The bonfires were going strong, and there was plenty of room for everyone to sit down and enjoy themselves. Assuming they weren't too busy still trying to figure this place out.

And that occasional lost puppy look was even more of a magnet for Ariel than just the unfamiliarity of a person, really.

"Hello!" she didn't quite bounce up to the boy, but almost. "You look new."

Well, even if some stuff here was a little confusing, at least the girls were really cute. And if him looking lost brought the cute girls to him, then Jeremy wasn't going to mind looking that way.

"That's because I am," he replied with an easy smile, offering his hand. "Jeremy Darling."

"I'm Ariel," she grinned, taking the hand in a shake, with a nod to to match. "Not new, but really glad to meet some of the new ones. So are you excited at all, Jeremy? Nervous? Confused?"

All of them seemed potential options with any newbie, really.

"I'm just getting acclimated," Jeremy replied diplomatically as he let go of her hand. "You know, getting a feel of the scene here. Never been to a boarding school before."

Especially not one so dedicated to hazing newbies. Because it was hazing, right?

Ahem.

"It's really nice!" Ariel assured him. "I've never been to a school like this before, either, but the classes are so much fun, and everyone here is so interesting. I am a little disappointed that there's no food class this semester, though."

Well, even Jeremy was a little saddened by a lack of food class. Not that he'd been expecting one, but still. It sounded easy and he was kind of a slacker.

"I think I heard there was a home ec class," he offered. "That's got food in it, right?" A pause, and he added, "Actually, I think my sister's taking that one."

Maybe she'd discover hidden talents.

"Yeah," Ariel said, shaking her head. "You don't want me taking home ec. It will only end badly. I'm much better when the food is already prepared. Take-out? Amazing."

And she gave a faint smile, tilting her head as she asked, "You've got a sister going here, too?"

"Oh, yeah, my sister Juliet," Jeremy replied, a little excitedly. He pointed the girl out for Ariel in the crowd. "Over there. We're twins."

Ariel went on her toes a little to seek out who Jeremy was pointing out and she grinned a little. "You don't look much like twins," she noted, "but hardly any of my sisters look alike, either."

"She dyes her hair," Jeremy said, as if he thought that was the major thing that made them not look alike. He was more interested in Ariel right now, anyway. "How many sisters do you have?"

"Six," Ariel said, with a faint grin and roll of her eyes. It was a loving one, though, of course. "And I'm the youngest."
