Fandom High Welcome Picnic, Front Lawn of the School, All Day: Part II

In order to give people a place to get away from the traffic jam of the buffet and information tables, most of the chairs and tables had been set up further out on the lawn, away from the school building. The bonfires were going strong, and there was plenty of room for everyone to sit down and enjoy themselves. Assuming they weren't too busy still trying to figure this place out.

Kyle shook his head. "I've been here a while. Someone told me the cake was good when I first got here and it was good advice. I'm Kyle Reese."

Sov replied with a small nod. It sounded like good, friendly advice of the kind that made you feel at home. "I'm Sov."

"Are you a long way from home?"

"The planet of Gethen. Have you heard of it?"

Was that far away? Sov wasn't sure.

"And you?"

Kyle shook his head. "I don't know many planets though. I'm from this one, Earth, but a different part of it and a different timeline. It's okay if you don't understand," he added hastily, "it's complicated."

Sov frowned a little. "Earth? This is Terra?" That seemed odd.

"Are Earth and Terra the same thing?"

"I think so," Sov replied. "But Terra was abandoned a long time ago, according to history."

Kyle looked at Sov hesitantly. "Time gets confusing here. You should talk to your school sibling about it."

Time was never uncomplicated, but Sov wasn't aware of just how uncomplicated. They nodded slowly.

"Do you like this school?"

"It's a good school." Not that he'd ever been to another one. "There are good people here, good food, and you can learn a lot from the classes."

That sounded reassuring. "I wasn't sure which classes to choose, as I didn't know the teachers," Sov said. "I hope I made a good choice."

"Pop Culture 101 and Nation Building and the Origin of Government," Sov replied. "Do you know any of the teachers?"

"I don't think so. All of the teachers I've had here are good at what they do though."
