BWI Portalocity Lounge [Sunday morning]

While Ramona had seen a lot of things, and traveling by portal hadn't really freaked her out or anything, she still wasn't really feeling great about being here. Maybe making an impulse decision to go to Maryland (of all places) hadn't been her best move.

In any case, though, she was here now, and there wasn't really a reason for her to turn back without giving it at least a day or so. So she lounged against the wall under the sign for Fandom High in the lounge, her bags by her feet as she waited for the shuttle.

"Oh, I've been going to normal schools," Steph explained. "But I have a, uh, benefactor back home who thought I needed a change, and this place was the perfect change of pace for me. Do you know what you're taking yet?"

"Chemistry and Home Economics." A beat. "I didn't pick home ec," he just had to add.

There was nothing wrong with home ec! Knowing how to sew was a good thing. Like, say, if you had to make your own superhero costume.

"I didn't pick my classes either," Steph assured him. "That was all the guy who paid for me to come here. Who picked yours?"

"My--guardian. She's my best friend's mom." Because saying 'my dad's corporate lawyer' was just weird.

"Yeah, it's this complicated thing with my dad's will."

FINE THEN. She could just go hang out with Jason in the poor Robins' club.

"Ouch," she offered. "But you're okay with it? Coming here? It doesn't seem like it'll be a horrible place."

"I'd have to go to school somewhere. This place didn't seem too bad in the brochures," Tony replied with a shrug.

"It got picked out for me," Steph told him. "I didn't really have a choice, but it seems like it'll be okay."

Not at all. Nothing weird here, nope.

"Yeah." Steph gave him a self-deprecating shrug. "The richest guy in my city decided dropping money to send li'l Stephie away to a good school would be a humanitarian thing to do. It's his dime, so he calls the shots."

For more than one reason, but shhh.
