BWI Portalocity Lounge [Sunday morning]

While Ramona had seen a lot of things, and traveling by portal hadn't really freaked her out or anything, she still wasn't really feeling great about being here. Maybe making an impulse decision to go to Maryland (of all places) hadn't been her best move.

In any case, though, she was here now, and there wasn't really a reason for her to turn back without giving it at least a day or so. So she lounged against the wall under the sign for Fandom High in the lounge, her bags by her feet as she waited for the shuttle.

[OCD coming up shortly! OCD IS UP WHEEE NEWBIES.]

Sov just nodded. Tony didn't seem quite happy about this, but they wasn't going to ask questions.

"I haven't gone since I was really young," Tony added, shaking his head to clear whatever non-sciencey thoughts that had brought him down.

Hey, he was totally allowed. It was pretty recent still!

"Have you been taught in some other way?" Sov asked. That didn't seem strange, if it was the case.

"I worked in my dad's lab." That was something to make him smile, at least. "Mechanics and engineering."

"Really?" That sounded a lot more interesting than a carpentry workshop. "Did you build things?"

[identity profile] hoorayimrich.livejournal.com 2011-01-02 04:35 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh, Sov. You've done this to yourself. "Lots of things," he replied proudly. "I have a record of patents for someone my age."

Re: Wait for the shuttle!

[identity profile] child-of-rer.livejournal.com 2011-01-02 04:38 pm (UTC)(link)
Not sure what patents was, Sov chose to focus on the building of things. "Can you build a radio?"

"What kind?"

Re: Wait for the shuttle!

[identity profile] child-of-rer.livejournal.com 2011-01-02 04:47 pm (UTC)(link)
"I was thinking of the kind that picks up broadcasts," Sov replied.

"Just for that? Not to communicate? Long-range, short-range," Tony babbled. "I can make any of them!"

Re: Wait for the shuttle!

[identity profile] child-of-rer.livejournal.com 2011-01-02 05:00 pm (UTC)(link)
"I like listening to the broadcasts," Sov replied, a little defensively.

[and I have to go for a while]

"Oh." Hey, science was awesome. "That's cool too," he added quickly. "I think you can buy something like that probably, though."

[[SP for great justice?]]

Re: Wait for the shuttle!

[identity profile] child-of-rer.livejournal.com 2011-01-02 11:37 pm (UTC)(link)
"I brought my own," Sov replied, the proud they felt of owning one showing. "But I don't know how to build one. Is it hard?"

Re: Wait for the shuttle!

[identity profile] hoorayimrich.livejournal.com 2011-01-02 11:46 pm (UTC)(link)
Tony had to pause for a moment. "Not for me. How much do you know about mechanics?"

Re: Wait for the shuttle!

[identity profile] child-of-rer.livejournal.com 2011-01-02 11:49 pm (UTC)(link)
Nothing. "Not much."

Re: Wait for the shuttle!

[identity profile] hoorayimrich.livejournal.com 2011-01-02 11:52 pm (UTC)(link)
That would make things difficult. "With instruction, it would probably take a couple weeks if built from scratch then." That's assuming he was starting from zero knowledge, of course. He could always hope for more!

Re: Wait for the shuttle!

[identity profile] child-of-rer.livejournal.com 2011-01-02 11:55 pm (UTC)(link)
"Time wouldn't be a problem, I'm patient." That was true, at least patient for being a fifteen year old. "But I have no one to instruct me." Because asking directly wouldn't do.

Re: Wait for the shuttle!

[identity profile] hoorayimrich.livejournal.com 2011-01-03 12:02 am (UTC)(link)
"I could show you when we're at school," Tony offered. Because science was awesome and needed to be shared with all. "I probably have most of the parts."

Re: Wait for the shuttle!

[identity profile] child-of-rer.livejournal.com 2011-01-03 12:07 am (UTC)(link)
And Sov couldn't hide their enthusiasm. "That would be... I'd like that."

Re: Wait for the shuttle!

[identity profile] hoorayimrich.livejournal.com 2011-01-03 12:10 am (UTC)(link)
Oh, this could only end in dorky glee. "Have you ever used a soldering iron? I think--" He grabbed one of his bags, opening it up to dig in. "--I should have one in here."

Re: Wait for the shuttle!

[identity profile] child-of-rer.livejournal.com 2011-01-03 12:16 am (UTC)(link)
"I haven't," Sov reply, peeking into the bag.

And yes, dorky glee would certainly be the result.

Re: Wait for the shuttle!

[identity profile] hoorayimrich.livejournal.com 2011-01-03 12:24 am (UTC)(link)
"It's the main tool you're going to need," Tony replied, pulling one out to hand over to Sov.

Re: Wait for the shuttle!

[identity profile] child-of-rer.livejournal.com 2011-01-03 12:26 am (UTC)(link)
Looking at the tool, Sov nodded. "Connecting parts with melted metal, right?"

Re: Wait for the shuttle!

[identity profile] hoorayimrich.livejournal.com 2011-01-03 12:32 am (UTC)(link)
Tony nodded and smiled at that. "There are other tools that can melt metal too, but this one is small enough not to damage anything delicate. You can have this one if you want."

Re: Wait for the shuttle!

[identity profile] child-of-rer.livejournal.com 2011-01-03 12:38 am (UTC)(link)
Surprised, Sov looked at Tony. "Are you sure?"
