Library, Tuesday

It was before dawn when Rinoa -- eyes rimmed red, and with a tendency to leak -- opened the library for her shift. She couldn't sleep, not after what she'd heard on the radio. (Nor had she particularly wanted to sleep, considering the bizarre fever-dream masquerade she'd woken up from last night.)

And so Rinoa was here. She had coffee, and she was biting back a tendency to snap. Someone she cared about was in danger: to a large and scary new part of her, that meant she should unleash destruction until all the bad stuff was dead. She was supposed to rely on her Knight to keep her steady, at times like this. No one had told her what to do if it was her Knight who was in danger.

The Library was open. Especially if you wanted to help with research.

Christian didn't always listen to the radio, but he had this morning and he'd heard about Squall.

"Rinoa," he said gratefully as he made it to the library. "Hello. I ... was a little worried you wouldn't be here."

Lindsay heard about what happened, so she was there partly to help with research. Mostly, though, she was there to check on her roommate.

"Hey," she greeted as she approached. "How are you holding up?"

Maybe it was a dumb question, but she was concerned.

After the events of last night, Cassidy hadn't been able to sleep. That would be why as soon as the library was open she was in there researching anything she could find about what may be going on with the island.

After having Karla slip through her fingers last night -- on top of being controlled by some force to forget who she was and what she wanted -- Raven was walking a fine line with her emotional control that morning. Her father was whispering to her constantly, trying to stoke the flames, but she tried to ignore him and focus on finding out what was behind all this. To outward appearances she was calm as she flipped through the pages about labyrinths and masquerades, but the red gleam in her eyes gave some hint of her true state of mind.

When Raven had entered the library, Cassidy had moved over to her side because she felt they should stick together.

So when she would gasp or mutter something in confusion as she flipped pages back and forth, Raven probably could hear her.

After a night worthy of screaming in horror, Sherlock was there the research whatever the hell was going on.

This somehow meant stealing John's laptop and taking up residence in the library.

Jane decided she had actually been in the island long enough to actually go and try to take care of it in a moment of need. Not to mention she apparently couldn't just shoot goblins until they were all dead.

So there she was in full bookworm mode, trying to make some sense of what she was reading.

Shira wasn't sure how long she'd been researching, going through book upon book upon book. She was getting nowhere and it was killing her a little. She let out an angry sigh and looked up, raking her fingers through her hair.

"Any luck?" she asked the woman closest to her, giving her a tired, sad smile.

And there was the cavalry from the Trooper station, since both Vimes and Ralph seemed to have their certain views about books in situations like this. Angua didn't mind, though, stretching a bit here and there as she offered her eyes to sort through hints about what might be going on, still feeling a haze regarding the odd dreams the night before.

And, oh, yes, there'd be coffee. Lots and lots of coffee.

And let's not talk about the Bog, shall we? You try dealing with that with a nose like Angua's...

With his classes canceled and his normal haunts sucked into a kriffing maze, Ben could only work out in the gym for so long before his muscles screamed for mercy.

Thus, the library. He was pretty sure there wouldn't be a book helpfully labeled "Crystal Bubbles and Who They Belong To", but he had to do something.

After last night's encounter with Momoko outside the walls, Cally certainly hadn't missed yesterday's radio broadcast. It had left her worried and frustrated that her late-night searches of the internet hadn't produced much more information on 'goblins' than Momoko had found. With her morning class helpfully canceled, Cally sought the library, hoping that the wider array of research materials might turn something helpful up.

Which made it a bit ironic that she was sitting a table in front of a school-issued laptop, once again searching the web, but at least there was a pile of books near her elbow now. One of them was even open.

"How are you doing?" Scully asked, rubbing at her eyes. "Finding anything useful?" She put her glasses back down. "Other than circular fairy tales."

Scully was looking up labyrinths. Anything would help, wouldn't it? She had to do something.

Labyrinth to maze, maze to puzzle, puzzle back to labyrinth....

Sophie felt badly enough for Medusalith-- and the rest of the children who'd been taken-- to leave her home, even though she half-feared it would be gone when she tried to return to it later.

She was looking at photos, mostly of labyrinths, and remembering that there was always a key to get out of them. But they varied so much, those in Greece to those in France, those in Ireland to those in China. Surely there had to be some commonality, though.

Ellie wasn't quite sure what was going on, but there were missing students. She wanted to do what she could to help. The best way she could was by researching rather than tying to fight anything. That's why she was at the library, leafing though some books.

He did. The problem was that Henry's ideas on where to look were almost all in Special Collections. He just had this sinking feeling that he'd end up in there before all of this was over.

Also, he wanted to register a protest against having to cross a rope bridge to get to work. He had a feeling he'd be sleeping in his office again soon enough.

He sighed and made more coffee.
